6 five
Tight corridors and the lack of a surprise weapon make this atmospheric map a challenge
- Featured in: Call of Duty Black Ops
A cast of political figures like Castro, Nixon, and JFK take the stage in Five, a map set deep inside the Pentagon. Despite the deep intrigue and political mysteries present in Five, the map itself has always come across as divisive due to its tight corridors and lack of fluid spaces to train without being quickly overrun by zombies.
Five's wonder weapon, The Winter's Howl, also holds strong as one of the weakest guns, and as players try to get to a higher round, they eventually find themselves stranded and overwhelmed, or out of weapons due to a Pentagon thief. There's a lot to like about Five's atmosphere, but its layout leaves something to be desired.
5 Shangrila
Traps and unique zombie types create an intense experience
- Featured in: Call of Duty Black Ops, Black Ops 3
Entering the tropical jungles of Shangri-La, players have a new playground to enjoy. With atmospheric maps and attention to detail, Shangri-La can't be faulted for its creativity, but can be faulted for its mechanics which can be quite annoying in the long run, especially when playing with randoms.

Call of Duty: All Zombies Crew and Their Fate
The fate of each team is revealed in Call of Duty Zombies, allowing players to see the end of their favorite characters, no matter how tragic.
Shangri-La is one of the few maps that requires all players to work together to open a pack-a-punch. Not once, but every time someone wants to use it. Monkeys can steal power-ups, which is interesting, but annoying in high rounds, and traps set about the map block the already tough training grounds, as well as being constantly interrupted by napalm and banshee zombies.
4 transit
A map split with lava and fog that makes access difficult
- Featured in: Call of Duty Black Ops 2
The most divided map in reality COD Zombies Historically, TranZit has had its ardent supporters and its avid haters alike. The map itself was bold and ambitious but apparently stalled afterwards Black ops 2 Engine on PS3 and Xbox 360. Large areas were thick with fog and the denizens who dared to run outside were slow players. Those who dare not travel by map rather than by bus may be left for dead if they miss their ride, resulting in a long wait before it returns.
TranZit had some innovative systems, such as buildable workstations, but it also lacked desirable materials, such as a jet gun that could be crafted but was always a waste of time and effort. Outside of TranZit's beautiful hellscapes, there's a lot that could be improved on modern hardware, but it's a map with layers of nostalgia for many, even if it can be stressful.
3 die and rise
A vertical map where a wrong turn ensures death
- Featured in: Call of Duty Black Ops 2
Call of Duty Zombies Die goes vertical with Rise, a true Towers of Doom-type map where players must battle deadly hordes at towering heights that can cost them their lives. A relentless horde of zombies and the need to watch where you step or you'll fall to your death is a deadly combination and one that can get very tiring after the easy game is over.

It was a tense time for Die Rise COD Zombies community, and many feared that the mod they had fallen in love with was running out of steam due to too many creative ideas in the wrong direction, literally. 2 Alpha Omega
A remake of a small map, where the Nova Crawlers make for a bad time
- Featured in: Call of Duty Black Ops 4
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Lists of their own polarization maps are featured, but Alpha Omega often leads the charge. The first map to pair the Ultimis and Premise teams together, Alpha Omega takes players to Camp Edward, which was simply an expanded remake of Nuketown Zombies. A frustration for some, but a fun challenge for others.
Alpha Omega's upgraded Ray Gun MK2 variants were a lot of fun to use, and the story is great for those who invest. However, the map layout is tight and difficult to control, and the Nova Crawlers have new upgrades that can easily ruin games, unless it's worth it to sink down the sub-levels of the map and run into zombies in one go. .
