Crimson Desert's latest update adds 12 special mounts

While the launch of Crimson Desert was decidedly mixed, the work done by Pearl Abyss deserves nothing but praise. The company is ahead of schedule when it comes to promised updates, and much of what it's doing is unplanned and based entirely on player feedback.

Updates are pushed regularly, refining existing features and adding new ones, creating a better experience for players. It's seen its Steam reviews steadily climb from “mixed” to “mostly positive” and now “very positive,” with 86 percent of reviews now glowing.

One of the biggest early complaints about Crimson Desert was the fact that players were unable to control and place any of the mounts they encountered during their adventures. That's all changed now, however, with update v1.06.00 adding the ability to register 12 new mounts, along with a range of new features.

Crimson Desert 1.06.00 adds 12 new special mounts

Not long after Crimson Desert launched, players were in an uproar over their inability to register new mounts. Pearl Abyss quickly improved that, adding five just weeks after launch. They included white bear, silver fang, snow white deer, rock tusk warthog and icicle age alpine ibex.

Now, as part of the game's latest update, there are 12 more special mounts available. They are as follows:

  • the bear

  • Pigs

  • Wolves

  • the deer

  • Mountain goat

  • cuckoo bird

  • Iguanas

  • Raptors

  • the camel

  • lions

  • Tigers

The update removes saddles from the default appearance of mounts, equipping them, saddles for each of the new mounts are available for purchase at the following locations:

  • Hernand Saddlery – Saddles for wolves and bears

  • Equinsher Saddlery – Saddles for deer and wolves

  • Calphade Saddlery – Saddles for bears and cuckoo birds

  • Demeniss Saddlery – Saddles for cuckoo birds and deer

  • Pailune Saddlery – Saddles for Bears and Ibexes

  • Delesyia Saddlery – Saddles for Warthogs

  • Tommaso Saddlery – Saddles for Iguanas

  • Varnia Saddlery – Saddles for camels

A mighty fine selection.

There are many other changes as part of the new update

Along with the new mounts, Pearl Abyss has added an extraction feature that “allows you to retrieve materials used to refine equipment.” This allows for the recovery of some of the materials you previously used to refine weapons and armor.

Players can also use new unarmed combat skills with Oongka, display sheaths for their swords, and collect the “Sigil of Valor”, which, when equipped, causes pet dogs to attack enemies.

Have you finished Crimson Desert yet?

You can now even play a claw machine in Laughing Marionette (because of course you can). This Claw Machine has a range of rewards including 12 types of light objects, 1 type of chair, 1 type of special headgear, Abyss Artifacts and Abyss Gear.

These big changes are accompanied by over 70 changes to UI, graphics, localization, controls, and content. You can check them all here. Keep it up, Pearl Abyss.
