within the whole Dragon Ball franchise, the villains introduced by this series are easily some of the best and most iconic in the entire anime industry. While they are often simplistic in nature in terms of motivation and action, these enemies have served as the basis for antagonists in the genre in general.

King Piccolo kills the Eternal Dragon

Arc: King Piccolo Saga

King Piccolo is considered by many fans to be the main antagonist of the original Dragon Ball His influence on the series, and the franchise, is still felt to this day. Although he committed many unspeakable acts, his worst moment came when he quickly killed Shenron in his desire to regain his youth. This was a very troubling act as it not only killed the legendary Eternal Dragon Shenron, but it also rendered the Dragon Balls useless, meaning no one could be resurrected anymore.

Vegeta destroyed the entire planet

Although Vegeta would eventually turn into one of the greatest heroes of the series, there was a time when he was a ruthless and merciless villain. At the beginning of the Sayan Saga, before he arrives on Earth, Vegeta is seen leaving a planet with Nappa, whom he proceeds to destroy for no other reason than 'having a bug problem'. This is made all the more terrifying when you remember that the inhabitants of this planet also refer to the Saiyans as heroes.

Frieza's destruction of the planet Vegeta started everything

Easily one of the most iconic and important moments in the entire franchise is Frieza's destruction of Planet Vegeta, which can be seen as the official catalyst for everything that ended. Incredibly afraid of a possible Saiyan rebellion and, even more, of the Super Saiyan story, Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta, mercilessly wiping out an entire race of humans and inadvertently starting the series as we know it.

Android destroyed the future timeline

The entire Android saga started due to Future Trunks traveling back in time to stop the threat of Androids and destroying the entire world before they could awaken. In their own timeline, these androids were unstoppable monsters that destroyed everyone and everything on the planet and brutally killed Trunks' mentor and best friend, Future Gohan. It was one of the most uncomfortable and sad moments to witness in the entire series.

Cell massacres the entire population of Ginger Town

Ark: Android Saga

Although Cell would later go on to become one of the series' best villains, his worst moment came with his debut as a grotesque original. Here, Piccolo goes to a completely desolate and abandoned Ginger Town, the streets are completely empty and littered with clothes, trash and wrecked cars. Eventually, Cell was shown the reason for this, as he absorbed all of those people with his tail, liquefying them to leave nothing but their clothes.

Super Buu made humanity extinct

Arc: The Buu Saga

Being a being whose entire goal is to destroy everything before him, Buu has done unspeakable things in each of his forms. While some argue that Kid Buu's destruction of Earth was the worst thing he did, Super Buu's human extinction attack was far more violent. This is because the villain sent millions of energy bullets that killed each person individually, which was also witnessed by the fans, which made it feel more visible and shocking.

Perhaps the most painful example of his plan was when he used Goku's body to kill Chichi and Goten, meaning that they died thinking that Goku himself was doing this horrible thing.

Moro left many worlds completely barren of life

Arc: Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc

Moro was introduced within Universe 7 as an ancient threat that had reborn to wreak havoc. This villain's main ability was to steal the energy and life force of other living beings and absorb it into himself, making him incredibly powerful and allowing him to live an unnaturally long life. Escaping the Galactic Patrol prison, Moro then proceeds to absorb the life force of entire planets, leaving them completely lifeless and killing countless living things.

Gas and heaters are connected to the fridge

Arc: Granolah Survivor Arc

Although Gas was the main villain of the Granolah arc and served as the ultimate enemy that Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah had to stop, his true worst moment had nothing to do with his fighting abilities. Gas and his siblings were Haters, who essentially acted as mediators between Frieza and the various races that the Frieza Force would sell to their conquered planets, making them complicit in all the atrocities. With Gas as the group's main muscle, he had himself to blame.

Cell Max went on a catastrophic ramp

Arc: The Superhero Arc

As the main villain of the superhero arc, Cell Max is remembered as another mindless beast whose entire purpose was simply to destroy everything in front of him. Because of his inevitable presence in the story he never had a single evil moment, his sheer destructive output made him a true force of terror. He indirectly led to the demise of Gamma 2 and caused untold destruction.
