It's been nearly five years since Far Cry 6 was released, and so far we've known about Far Cry 7 through various rumors, leaks, and reports. It's an open secret that Far Cry 7 is in development at Ubisoft, but as far as when we'll see the game is anyone's guess.
We can add one more leak to the list, as Ubisoft leaker Rogue has taken to social media to share a minute-long clip of what they claim is audio from Far Cry 7.
Set against a sweeping mountain backdrop, the clip is heavy on the sounds of a ticking clock. The intensity of the ticking and music increases minute by minute before the clip finally fades out.

The modern video landscape wouldn't be the same without Far Row 3
It's been more than a decade since Ubisoft's open-world blockbuster changed video games forever.
If the audio is indeed genuine, it confirms a long-standing rumor that Far Cry 7 will have a time-related twist, which has disappointed fans who just want to play the game at their own pace.
Far Cry 7 will be a different kind of Far Cry title
Back in 2023, it was first reported that Far Cry 7 would have a time mechanic that would require players to beat the game within 24 real-time hours. Rumors suggested that the game's main story will center around a family that needs to be rescued within a certain time frame.
The clock will reportedly stop when in a safe house, but otherwise will tick for every activity. 24 real-life hours will equal 72 in-game hours. At the time, rumors suggested that Cillian Murphy would have a role in the game, although that was later denied.
Last year, “scraped versions” of Far Cry 7 managed to be leaked online, including a word extraction mode and an Alaskan setting. It's not clear if elements of the leak were scrapped, though. Recently, Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson alleged that Far Cry 7 development is “going to hell and back.”
Ultimately, there's enough to suggest that Far Cry 7 will be different from past entries. How different it will be when it is finally revealed.
