Last September, every Fire Emblem fan jumped with joy when Nintendo announced a new entry in the long-running franchise, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Wave, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title that will launch at some point in 2026.
With the nearly three-minute-long reveal trailer, Nintendo gave some early story clues, as well as a first look at gameplay before disappearing. Since that September reveal, things have been radio silent on Nintendo's part, but some eagle-eyed fans believe the wait may be over soon, thanks to the now-revealed PEGI rating.

Nintendo's next big RPG could take the world by storm like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Things are heating up in the world of Nintendo
On Nintendo's GB site, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave has a PEGI 12 rating, citing “violence,” “bad language,” and “in-game purchases.” Normally, that wouldn't be anything to see, but as Fire Emblem fans have pointed out, the PEGI 12 rating wasn't always there.
Instead, as recently as April 7, there was a provisional PEGI rating on the Nintendo eShop page for Fortune's Weave. That rating was also PEGI 12, as Nintendo probably assumed that's where things would go when the game passed certification.
Where does that leave us? Well, Nintendo may be gearing up to dish out some more news on Fire Emblem right away. Where things get particularly interesting is that this means a new Nintendo Direct is on the horizon.
That “in-game purchases” label shouldn't cause too much concern. Many other Nintendo first-party titles have that label, and it's almost always to do with Nintendo Switch online functionality rather than dedicated microtransactions.
As recently as two weeks ago, reliable insider NateTheHate reported that a standalone Nintendo Direct wouldn't happen until June. However, that doesn't mean there won't be anything Nintendo Today reveals or likes.
Recent rumors have suggested that Star Fox is coming back in a big way beyond Fox McCloud's appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie, and that the reveal will happen sometime in April. Without direct, that makes Nintendo Today or social media the logical route.
Of course, Nintendo can wait until June for all of this.
On top of this is the fact that Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave isn't the only first-party title to have its rating updated, as Splatoon Raiders also changed its rating, and like Fire Emblem, it was once a temporary rating that no longer exists.
What's more, they're not just rated titles. Guardians of the Galaxy, the 2021 Eidos-Montreal-developed title starring Marvel characters, also recently submitted a Nintendo Switch 2 rating, indicating that a port may be on the way. Elsewhere, Devil May Cry 5 also appears to be primed for a Switch 2 release, with a separate SKU rated in Taiwan.
Where there's smoke, there's fire, and in this case, the abundance of age ratings soon hints at some major news.
