Some games present us as a mighty warrior who blasts or cuts down waves upon waves of enemies. As cruel as it can be, we are usually reassured and motivated by the thought that those enemies are evil. For example, Doomslayer, as brutal and merciless as he is, is fighting the forces of Hell. However, on other occasions our enemies are far from chaotic evil.

The 5 best FPS games where one player is a monster, ranked
Asymmetric FPS games aren't very common, but we've got some great ones that let players become huge and terrifying monsters.
Some “monsters” are tragically and horribly misunderstood. They may simply be fighting relentlessly for self-preservation, or otherwise be completely unable to control their actions. We may have preconceived notions about a creature's intentions, only to be proven very wrong. The monsters in the following games, although they may be powerful enemies, are not actually monsters.

Resident Evil
Lisa Trevor, perhaps the saddest character in the entire series
The Resident Evil The series certainly has its share of truly evil, duplicitous villains. Albert Wesker, for example, was last seen having a very bad day in a pool of lava. Often, these villains aim to unleash the series' trademark “bioweapons.” These are demons; Humans or animals that have been infected with different virus strains (either through use of shady organizations or through accidental spills). Only in very few cases are these transitions or mutations voluntary on the part of the host. The true demons, in fact, are the ones who created these beings.
I think this is most evident in the tragic case of Lisa Trevor, who was first seen Resident Evil Remake, Probably one of the scariest Resident Evil Games. Repeatedly used by Umbrella's predecessors after her kidnapping, Lisa's body reacted to the Progenitor Virus in unexpected and terrifying ways, and the trauma of her imprisonment and the death of her mother ultimately made her the greater security threat the company believed. As terrifying as her pursuits are, as dangerous as she is to collect deadly faces, Lisa is just another victim of the company's horrors. The boss fight, in which we get to reveal Lisa's mother's grave to him and see his distraught reaction, was quite poignant. The moments where we get glimpses of the humanity that is still inside the mutated shell add much more depth than just being a hideous creature to explode.

Look outside
Neighbors aren't the monsters you think they are
There was still a lot of humanity inside Lisa Trevor, despite the terrible transformation that had been forced upon her. The same, indeed, is true of the denizens Look outside. This terrifying pixel horror game sees the unfortunate Sam waking up in his apartment, with something terribly wrong (which it is) and a strong urge to look outside (which he shouldn't). Doing so immediately ends the game. What's out there? Enzymatic visitors, that is, and the mere sight of them is enough to transform most of the unfortunate residents of Sam's apartment block (and humanity beyond) into hideous beasts.

8 Scariest Ghosts From Horror Games, Ranked
Ghosts can be downright terrifying, and the ones featured in these horror games will leave players feeling haunted even after they turn off the console.
I was initially worried that the game would be a bit more of a point and click adventure around an apartment building (those games are not my forte), but I was happy that it turned out to be a pixel RPG. In your quest to survive 15 days until the visitor disappears into space and hopefully learn something more about its arrival and effects, you'll assemble a small party and engage in some of the aforementioned horror battles. The saddest thing to me is, many of these enemies are just your neighbors cursed by the sight of visitors. They can't help what they're doing and certainly didn't ask for it. The most tragic is the case of Jeanne of the apartment 20. His curse moves quickly and is extremely eyeball-y, but the human inside him knows that he is losing control of his body. Parts of it are, in fact, out of people eating their own minds, and she's terrified of the situation.
As absurd and outlandish as the game is, it's genuinely interesting, and tugged at my heartstrings several times during its short run. I enjoyed replaying the quest several times in search of different endings, which dramatically change how things play out depending on the amount of visitor evidence you can collect and how you choose to respond to certain people.

the factory
Can you blame them for biting?
the factory The title is about building a huge industrial enterprise to help you survive a mysterious planet. Did the locals tell you to do that? No, no, they didn't, and they're not that thrilled about what he's doing in their world.
You are not free to build infinitely (not by default, that is). As your factory gets bigger, it pollutes the planet more and more. There are certain thresholds where beaters decide to fight back. The combat in the game, such as it is, involves fighting alien forces before they destroy your structures.
Of course, potentially setting the path of your progress makes these creatures villains in the eyes of the player, but they don't really want to fight. Indeed, you can't build a massive rocket in the middle of barren land without the locals noticing or having a significant impact on the surrounding pollution levels. The player is able to see the amount of pollution they are creating and how far it has traveled on the map. When approaching a creature's nest, it will spark several of them to spawn and, in short order, attack. A well-defended base and clever manipulation of the way you aggro them will help ensure your survival, but I can't help but feel a little sorry for these seemingly monstrous critters.

Nier Automata
I thought they were strangely endearing
now, Nier: Automata There are some fantastic boss battles and surprisingly funny setpieces. When it comes to regular enemy encounters, though, I was impressed by the design of the machines from the start. They just didn't seem like evil enemies to me, and, often, they didn't even act like it. I was particularly struck by the opening scene in which 2B and 9S chase after a particular machine, who is terrified of them (“They won't give up. Gotta run! Gotta run!”).

7 best Nier Automata mods to install
Fans who want a different playthrough of Nier Automata can experiment with the following popular mods.
We later learn that the conflict between the parties has, finally, long since ended, despite what our heroes believe, without any humans alive on the moon. However, the planet retains some form of life in the form of these machines, many of which want to be free to live the unique lives they have been given.
Famously, this isn't a game you complete just once: the story develops and more details emerge over the course of multiple playthroughs. It will somehow make you feel bad every time, as you learn about the heroes' true motives and the fact that, in some ways, their greatest enemies are each other. We are so used to the powerful enemies that attack us as we watch in games, and rarely feel the need to question who we are fighting and what we are fighting for. There is a lot of depth AutomataAnd because I was new to games when I first played, I didn't really expect it.

Monster hunter world
I'm not so sure they're monsters
It was my first entry into the series Monster Hunter TriAnd although I bought it out of curiosity to try something new, it immediately clicked with me and many hundreds of hours will disappear with it. It's totally engaging to find the last rare item to complete an armor set, and practicing with new types of weapons and building sets is great fun. Targeting parts and slicing tails keep combat strategic and varied, but it's also quite brutal, as is the whole carving concept.
What did these creatures do to us? Well, in some cases, they are encroaching on human territory and posing a major threat that needs to be addressed. You can definitely see the danger of the Elder Dragon in particular. Although they are mostly seen out in the wild fending for themselves.
I think it is Monster hunter world It strikes me the most in this regard, and perhaps it's because this title took a more open-world approach than any that had come before. We were exploring vast areas with the help of those scoutflies, learning more about the ecosystem and the places of different creatures within it. Before we find them. The reasons given in the quest description for some of these hunts are more than a little suspect. Still, there are city- or planet-level threats like Magnumalo throughout the series, so the definition of 'monster' is definitely ambiguous here.

Cuphead
Are they evil? That's a matter of perspective
within each owner Cuphead Definitely earned the ire of the fanbase a thousand times over. Goopy Le Grande and The Root Pack have also killed players. By the tenth attempt at an owner's brick wall (the grime matchstick was my particular nemesis; that took many, many tries the first time around), you might have concluded that they're just plain bad. In reality, though, they're just as much a victim as Cuphead and Mugman.
Being forced to claim your soul contract one by one and being forced to surrender your soul contract are both terrible fates. It is fortunate for each owner that the couple finally chooses to defy the devil and not hand them over. It's not entirely clear how the lovingly-animated owners ended up in debt to Satan in the first place, so perhaps they're not innocent in his eyes. From their perspective, though, it's the two drink-faced brothers who are truly the villains, if only during their encounters. Still, everyone buries the hatchet in the end (except King Dice and Devil). If there were more later A delicious final course.
