Now that JJK has officially concluded, fans may be wondering what the ultimate fate of Gozo is. In fact, many fans expected major things from Gozo in the final chapter, which the author certainly did not deliver. While Gozo's ending wasn't perfect, there were elements that fans could at least appreciate.
Gozoa's death at the hands of Sukuna shocked fans
- Gojo vs. Sukuna opens the Shinjuku Showdown
- Sukuna v. Gozo lost his life
Gozo was unsealed towards the end of the Culling Game arc, and immediately, a battle between him and Sukuna began. As this fight was set up, fans knew right away that it would be the biggest in the entire series, and no other fight would even come close. That remains true to this day even though there have been many incredible fights since Gozo vs. Sukuna. No other battle managed to come close to this incredible confrontation of majestic proportions and it shows that Gage, at least, enjoyed this unprecedented battle. Gojo vs Sukuna was an incredible encounter where both of these magicians used their powers to the fullest. Considering that these are two of the most powerful magicians of their respective eras, Gozo and Sukuna's struggle was always going to be titanic. When these two magicians clashed, the normal rules started to make no sense, which went on to show that the scale they operated on was completely different from the regular ones.
Farewell, Gojo Satoru! I will never forget you as long as I live! – Sukuna
However, they were evenly matched and were able to one-up the other in combat. That said, Gozo was definitely at a huge disadvantage, as Tsukuna not only had access to her own technique, but Megumi Fushiguro's as well. 10 Shadows itself was strong enough to rival Gozo's Limitless and Six Eyes at its peak, as implied earlier in the series by the author himself. On top of that, there was the Shrine to deal with, which essentially saw that Gozo couldn't fight as easily as if there was only one to fight.
The strongest Shikigami of the 10 Shadows, Mahoraga, proved to be the biggest thorn in Gozo's side, and ultimately caused his defeat. Thanks to Mahoraga, Sukuna gained the ability to expand the target of his technique and cut Gozo's Infinity, killing him in the process. JJK Chapter 236, and fans were completely shocked by the author's decision, despite him being a highly dominant fighter at this point in the story. His death was completely antithetical, and at the same time, had little meaning at the time. That said, fans realized that this wasn't the end of her at this point in the story and there was definitely more to follow.
How Utah captured Gozo's body
Yuta copied Kenzaku's technique to use Gozo's body
When Gojo Satoru died, the war against Tsukuna continued. Meanwhile, Gozo's body is recovered by Ui Ui, and taken back to Shoko. His body was stitched up as it could be, meaning there was more to come from Gozo. That's exactly what happened when Yuta got into battle with Tsukuna. Like Gozo, he was cut in half. Yuta was also transported back to where Gozo was, and just before he died, Yuta transferred his brain into Gozo's body, thanks to Kenzaku's technique that he had copied. Essentially, Yuta then used the power of the Reverse Cursed Technique at the absolute maximum level and he gained access to Gozo's body.
Yuta then went to the battlefield, and used his sensei's body to engage Tsukuna in battle again. With Gozo's body in Utah returning to the battlefield, the second phase of this point essentially began. This fight was as impressive as the first round, but the scale was much smaller, and at the same time, it didn't last long. The battle immediately began with a domain struggle between the two, and the battle was eventually won by Yuta in Gojo's body. Sukuna was also hit by Hollow Purple, which under normal circumstances, should have killed him from that range.
Don't we already have enough Gojo Satoru? – Gozo
Sadly, Yuta had no mastery over Gozo's body, leaving Sukuna alive. At the same time, his technique went off 5 minutes ago, and Yuta completely lost control of Gozo's body. From that point on, neither Gozo nor Yuta played any role in the fight against Tsukuna. It fell to Yuji to defeat the King of Curses, and he did it flawlessly.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Why Sukuna's Return Makes Sense
Tsukuna will likely return to JJK if the series ever gets a sequel.
After the conclusion of the battle, fans were left wondering what happened to Gozo and Yuta, as they were both stuck in limbo in more ways than one. At the end of Jjk, the author provided an answer to the fans, and it was definitely an interesting one, to say the least.
The final fate of Gozo at the end of JJK
Gojo Satoru is officially dead
at the end of JJKIt is revealed that Yuta Okkotsu has returned to his body. Essentially, Rika had continued to use the Reverse Curse technique on Yuta's body and healed it completely. After that, Rika also continued to keep Yuta alive in Gozo's body and returned the brain to her own body. Rika essentially acted as the anchor to bring Yuta back and the fans saw her return. Meanwhile, Gozo's body, which was also fully healed for the Reverse Cursed Technique, was potentially set up for resurrection in the fans' minds.
Unfortunately, this revival, which could very easily have been possible, was not part of the story. Gozo was not even addressed in the final volume of the series, nor was his death properly acknowledged by his students. No one paid tribute to Gozo from his friends or his students, and he didn't even get a funeral in the end. It's safe to say that Gozo's conclusion was certainly incredibly surprising for a character of his stature, and while the author didn't judge him, fans will want to defend this decision.
Gozo's conclusion was definitely one of the worst any character had ever received JJKAnd that definitely left fans a little disappointed. That's not to say that Gozo wasn't a good character. Fans will always love the iconic Gojo Satoru, who stood out most strongly at the top and at the same time, had an incredibly exciting and charming personality, always thinking of his students before him. While the author couldn't do him justice in the end, fans will remember him as Gozo Satoru, and not just strong.
The final chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump apps.
