It took all of 24 hours for the drama around Friday to bring another Halo game from Halo Studios, once known as 343 Industries, a rebranded development team, a remake of Campaign Evolved dubbed Halo: Combat Evolved, a single-player-only experience that will bring a first-time shooter.
drama?
Well, a member of Halo Studios was spotted on stream wearing a t-shirt with the PlayStation logo at the Halo World Championship.
Executive?
Mike Ybarra, formerly president of Blizzard and an executive at Microsoft, to boot.
That's a lot of drama for a nothing burger
Taking to Twitter, Ybarra noted that while he's “happy” Halo is on PlayStation and Steam, there shouldn't be anyone wearing a PlayStation shirt the day the team is announced.
“It just rubs so much in the face of loyal Xbox fans. How you treat players lasts a lifetime.”
The incident in question shows a member of the Halo Studio team wearing a PS logo shirt, with a jacket on, probably the most recognizable thing and certainly not the biggest thing.
For what it's worth, it's not like Xbox hasn't acknowledged PlayStation over the years, with congratulatory messages on social media, or not already recognizing the brand in several videos, seeing as two other core “exclusives” in Forza and Gears of War, both of which have made their way to Sony consoles.
Which means that if there's drama to be had, there's a good chance you'll find it, even if it just revolves around a shirt.
