Helldivers 2's Spread Democracy mission is a little underwhelming
Flag pole installations occur in arbitrary corners of the map and currently do not lend themselves to any particularly memorable moments, especially if the terrain is level and impossible to plan around meaningfully or strategically. Sometimes visibility is slightly obstructed by anything nearby, but the environment is rarely enough of a dependent variable to be pleasing or noticeable.
That's not to say that Spread Democracy missions can't be stressful or difficult, and yet they lack one crucial element that pulls them to the front of the pack and ensures they're one of the most popular mission types.

Meridia's Deploy Dark Fluid mission was extraordinary for the fleeting time it was around, and an irreplaceable part of its success was the climactic ending excelled by the claustrophobic mountaineers. Backed into this corner, players had no choice but to mount whatever defenses they could against the Shrikers and other bugs that hadn't been squashed.
But, since Spread Democracy's primary objective is on a modest patch of landscape, it's easy enough to escape, nuke the site, and regroup if necessary before players return to the flag and trigger its slow establishment meter.
Having these flags sprout up in nondescript areas as a way to show that Super Earth is trying to reclaim desolate, hostile wastelands can be more immersive, but story immersion can and will take a backseat to gameplay and otherwise be droll and repetitive.
