Emmerich Voss is the perfect Indiana Jones villain
Emmerich Voss is a Gestapo officer and Dr. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Rene Belloc is like a combination, and I honestly don't think there's a better foil for Indiana Jones. He is an archaeologist with a deep knowledge of the ancient world, like Indy, but his status as a high-ranking Nazi official embodies Indy's other main nemesis, the Germans. He's a Nazi grave robber with charisma and knowledge to match Indy's own expertise, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle does a wonderful job of incorporating the qualities that make this unique character the opposite of Indiana Jones.
