Wood is one of the most powerful abilities that exists in style Naruto the universe. This ability was introduced precisely during the battle between Hiruzen Sarutobi and Orochimaru. That said, its powers are definitely unmatched, especially when wielded by the First Hokage.

One of the odd things about Wood Release is that there haven't been many users of this power over the years. While there appears to be another user BorutoFans have never seen their powers. Now, in Boruto: Two Blue VortexesIt seems that yet another powerful Wood Release user has been revealed.

The Power of Wood Release and Hashirama's Legacy

Wood Release is a very powerful Kekkei Genkai, and it just might be one of the most powerful of all time so it's very easy for fans. This ability sees the use of Water Release with Earth Release, and then these two natural elements are combined together, giving rise to Wood Release. Of course, this does not mean that any user ninja with Water Release and Earth Release can use Wood Release. In order to be able to use Wood Release, one must have the underlying skill to produce this jutsu. Hashirama Senju was the first one that fans could use the wood release. To this day, Hashirama remains the best user of wood release that fans have seen.

Only one person can use its power – the First Hokage!!

With the power of Wood Release, Hashirama could control the vegetation around him. He could grow forests out of nowhere and completely change the terrain around him. Wood Release was also incredibly effective against any form of elemental power, and, above all, this power was used to suppress the power of tailed beasts as well. Due to its innate ability to drain chakra, Wood Release was able to control the tailed beasts and suppress their destructive nature, which was seen several times throughout the series.

Seeing the incredible powers of Wood Release, it was no wonder that Konoha wanted more Wood Release users. Of course, this was not to be because this ability, unfortunately, was not inherited by any of Hashirama's descendants. That said, experiments with Wood Release and Hashirama cells continued, which eventually led to the birth of Yamato. Yamato's Wood Release was quite weak, and while it certainly helped keep the Nine Tails up to a certain level, it didn't do much more than that. In terms of combat, Hashirama had a shameful comparison to Senju, which didn't quite make it.

Aside from Hashirama, the only good users of Wood Release that fans have seen in the story are Obito and Madara Uchiha. Both of these individuals gained access to Wood Release through Hashirama cells. It was Madara who tore a piece of Hashirama's flesh during the final battle in the Valley of the End, and then cultivated it in his hideout. Eventually, he gave birth to these cells which he not only transplanted into his own body, but also used to create half of Obito's missing body. Naturally, this led to Obito being able to use Wood Release, and Madara could also use this power.

In the case of the latter, power was extended to a whole new degree. He used Profound Forest Emergence in the Fourth Great Ninja War, and could have nearly destroyed the entire shinobi force with it if not for Naruto Uzumaki. It can be said that in terms of destructive powers, Madara's version of Wood Release was almost as effective as Hashirama's.

Fast forward several years, Madara Uchiha is dead, as are Hashirama and Obito. In the story no users of Wood Release should be left out, except for Yamato, and maybe people like Orochimaru, who continue to cultivate this power. But now, the Boruto The series introduced fans to another user of Wood's release, which was hinted at Boruto: TBV Chapter 17. This user is none other than Matsuri, one of the Shinju. Matsuri is incredibly dangerous and, as implied in the previous chapter of the story, she can sense the trees around her.

There are trees everywhere, even under the earth! – Matsuri

Matsuri is a sensory type, which is special in Shinju. As fans may remember, Hashirama was a sensor-type ninja, and this was largely due to his ability to use Wood Release and Sage Mode. Matsuri told herself in the previous chapter that she could sense trees under the earth and elsewhere. It is through these trees that he can locate any location anywhere, and this is a clear indication of the fact that he is also a user of Wood Release.

Considering the fact that Matsuri is a Shinju based on Moegi, this doesn't surprise fans. As fans know, Moegi is a very strong user of Earth and Water Release, and it is stated in another databook that she can use Wood Release. Unfortunately, she hasn't used this power yet, but hopefully, she will eventually get around to doing so. Through Matsuri, however, it is essentially confirmed that Moegi is also a user of Wood Release, as Matsuri should not have access to this power without her parent body.

How strong is Matsuri?

So far Matsuri's wood has not been seen in release Boruto series. She uses Earth Release, but her other skills are yet to be seen. What fans do know is that she is a very good sensor-type ninja, but beyond that, her proficiency with Wood Release remains unknown. That said, since he is a product of Ten-Tails, known to fans as a user of Wood Release, his ability level must be very high. In fact, his control with Wood Release may even be superior to Moigi and possibly Hashirama Senju. This shouldn't surprise fans, as she is a powerful Shinju who can essentially destroy the planet. Of course, fans will definitely see Konohamaru fight against the likes of him very soon, and when that happens, the true extent of his Wood Release powers will be revealed for all to see.

As things stand, it is impossibly difficult for anyone to defeat Matsuri in battle, but one way or another, the ninjas must face this great threat with the power of using Wood Release, or the Earth will face its inevitable destruction.
