Marvel rivals fans say the black cat's face resembles that of evil

Black Cat is joining Marvel Rivals this Friday, and she's already managing to tease half the playerbase. Mostly, that's because he seems to have access to every ability under the sun, with ridiculous moves at his disposal. However, there's something else that fans have noticed now that we have an official character model – she looks very familiar.

Many believe that the black cat model uses a face similar to disease. Looking at the pair side by side, the similarities are hard to deny. Their face shape, mouth, nose and eye placement are all similar, with the only real difference being the black cat's makeup. It's enough to accuse Marvel rivals of 'same face syndrome', something usually reserved for Overwatch.

Black Cat and Evil look a lot alike in their Marvel rivalry, and fans are noticing that other female characters seem to share a face as well.

After pointing out similarities between Rogue and Black Cat, some started looking back through previous female characters… and saw some similarities there too. Now, it's not as bad as Overwatch using the same face for many heroes (including Unran, until the last update), but some heroes seem like they could be related.

Of course, it took time to add these similarities to the Black Cat roster for many to notice, so the different aesthetics donned by the heroes apparently did a good job of masking it. It didn't even pick up on Black Cat's first reveal, but rather, the reveal of her first unique skin. Since her hair was so big in her new outfit, some thought it was actually a new skin for Rog, which made them realize how similar the pair looked.

I won't hold your breath if you're expecting NetEase to take Blizzard's approach and promise no redesigns. So far, NetEase has not been incredibly responsive to feedback regarding character models, specific design choices made for female actors. One thing it has going for it is a bit more physical variety than other hero shooters, with Rogue and Emma Frost being big and muscular.

Black Cat joins the roster on April 17th.
