Marvel Rivals has announced a new PvE mode out of nowhere. Based on the recently released Marvel Zombies animated series, the mod will pit Blade, Magic, Punisher, Thor, and Jeff against hordes of undead and eventually zombie bosses. Each of the five will also gain special powers to deal with the dead.
Launching on October 23rd, this mode will give Marvel Rivals the PvE mode that many fans have been asking for since launch. It's a collaboration with the Marvel Animation team aimed at increasing the game's player base, as well as promoting the Disney+ series. Not much else is known about this mod for now.
Marvel Rivals PvE mode announced
The new mode was announced a few minutes ago by Marvel Games Executive Producer Danny Koo and Marvel Head of Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum. As mentioned by Koo, each hero will have special powers, such as the blade bouncing Moonblades, Thor's constant waking state, and Magik's Darkchild mode is limitless.
As you cut through endless hordes, you'll eventually have to fight Zombie Namor and Queen of the Dead Scarlet Witch. While it's unclear how these boss fights will work, it's clear that players will need to work together to save the entire planet from being infected.
Marvel Zombies PvE mode launches next week, and we can add more characters to the roster. Not to mention new skins, rewards, and zombie bad guys to deal with. While we've only seen zombie grunts in the trailer, we'll likely get more powerful enemies when it launches.
It's unclear if the mode will tie into the show, as both Thor and Blade are already featured in it. This PvE mode will likely see hordes of players return, as hero shooter fans still feel burned by the way Overwatch 2 handled its promised PvE mode.
