Of course, this could just be Luffy referring to Blackbeard and his pirate crew, but, there is a deeper meaning to be found here. Perhaps, Luffy sensed more than one presence within Blackbird. This was implied later down the line, when Ace fought against Blackbeard. Despite dealing a life-threatening blow to a former member of the Whitebeard Pirates, Ace was unsuccessful in this fight. He held the upper hand for a significant time in this battle, only to lose later.

The idea is intriguing, to say the least, but it may not be true. Blackbeard's special body is not because of the Devil Fruit, but because he was born that way. This is clearly implied from Buggy's conversation with Shanks, where he says that Blackbeard can't sleep. Luffy himself hinted at this on Drum Island, and Oda also depicted a young Blackbird crying at night instead of sleeping.
