Now, Junkrat's Loot Hunt is back once again to carry players through the first part of Reign of the Talon Season 2. From now until May 12, fans can earn nine free loot boxes just by playing games. However, this iteration has an exciting twist: during the event, Battle Pass XP gains from games will also double, making the event twice as attractive.

Match progression in Junkrat's Loot Hunt uses the gate progression system seen in other events recently, including Overwatch x Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred crossover. Each loot box is earned after five matches, stadium matches and victories count towards each double progression. That said, progress to the next loot box won't unlock until the last one is earned. If a player has four out of five required matches towards the loot box, further progress will not carry over to the next loot box challenge if they win their match.
Meanwhile, the XP boost applies exclusively to Battle Pass XP Overwatch Fans earn by completing games. Typically, a match grants between 700 and 1,000 Battle Pass XP, with additional rewards for wins and longer matches. Playing in a group gives an extra 20% boost, while queuing for in-demand roles adds a flat 100 to 500 extra XP. All of this is multiplied by a double XP boost, meaning players who capitalize on all of these bonuses can easily earn over 2,000 Battle Pass XP for a winning game.
This double whammy event has arrived at the right time. Overwatch Reign of the Talon Season 2 began on April 15 and lasts until June 16, which means the mid-season update will likely take place on May 12, right when Junkrat's Loot Hunt ends. While fans don't know everything that's coming in this update, Jetpack Cat is coming to the stadium, and Ra Ana, the support hero's second Mythic skin, will be added to the shop.
