Atlas can easily look back on 2024 and call it a great year. Not only did the studio release critically-acclaimed and beloved titles like Persona 3 Reload and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, but the cherry on top of the cake was the release of Metaphor: Refantazio, which won several awards, and could potentially launch. A brand new series for the developer.
It's hard to imagine 2025 being good for Atlus, but the studio seems to have some pretty big projects waiting in the wings. At a Japanese outlet called 4Gamer (thanks Persona Central), which publishes annual articles with aspirations for various Japanese developers, several high-profile Atlus developers have teased that big things are in the works.
Persona and Shin Megami Tensei announcements teased for 2025
For example, Atlus developer Yosuke Uda tells readers that he's still hard at work on Persona 5: The Phantom X, and that they want to keep supporting the studio until 2025, but hints that more than just his game is on the way. Another developer, Shinjiro Takada, who worked on the Shin Megami Tensei series, also says the studio is working on the title “hoping to announce it as soon as possible.”
Persona series creator Atsushi Nomura also gave us a vague teaser when asked about his aspirations for 2025. He says he is working hard on the game which will be revealed “at a more appropriate time”. It asks fans to “stay tuned”, suggesting it will happen sooner rather than later. Another developer for Persona – Naoya Maeda – also teases that the title will be an “exciting new experience”.

It's time to leave high school for personality
Shin Megami Tensei can achieve a lot more with older characters.
Finally, Persona team creative producer and lead director Kazuhisa Wada says that 2025 will be a year in which the studio will “carefully steer the lead of several large-scale projects that are on track”. He also teases that “the collective mass of these projects is huge”, and any mistakes could be extremely costly.
One of these big projects is undoubtedly Persona 6, the title has been teased several times, and it's been more than eight years since Persona 5 was first released in Japan. It's been a relatively long time since the initial release of Shin Megami Tensei V, which began three years ago. We won't know for sure what these projects are until Atlus finally unveils them, but it looks like they're going to be pretty big.
