Pokemon Pokopia is now popular enough to have its own Nintendo Switch 2 bundle

Pokemon Pokopia has been a huge hit for Nintendo, but an unexpected one. The Pokemon spinoff was expected to sell as well as most Pokemon spinoffs, but all signs point to Nintendo exceeding any expectations, which is why Pokopia is getting its own Switch 2 bundle.

Pocopia's Switch 2 bundle announced

Nintendo shared a first look at the Pokopia Switch 2 bundle via its Australia and New Zealand Twitter account on Monday night, and that's the catch. As it stands, the only regions confirmed to receive the new bundle are Australia and New Zealand. However, given the availability of previous Switch 2 bundles and Pokopia's global popularity, it's hopefully only a matter of time before it's confirmed for release elsewhere.

FOMO is hitting Switch 1 owners hard as Pokopia's Switch 2 exclusivity stings

A Switch 2 exclusive might finally convince people to jump ship.

It's not just a throwaway bundle that gets you the Switch 2 with a copy of Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for slightly less than if you bought them separately. This is an official bundle in which the console gets its own console boxart, like the Mario Kart World bundle that accompanied the Switch 2 at launch, and the Pokémon Legends: ZA option that effectively replaced the Mario Kart bundle when it sold out.

The timing of Pokopia's bundle shows that its success took Nintendo by surprise.

Those are the main differences between the first two bundles and Pokopia when they were released. Both Mario Kart World and Pokémon Legends: ZA's bundles were released at the same time as their respective games. The Pokopia Bundle won't be here until June 5thA full three months after the game's release, the confirmation of its success was a huge surprise, and Nintendo is currently scrambling to capitalize on it in any way it can.

As for what you get with the bundle, there are no official themed Switch 2 consoles, and there's no suggestion that we'll get any like we did for the original Switch, though these are early days – the Switch 2 isn't even made yet. It's just the standard Switch 2 with the code for Pocopia, plus you get the added thrill of the aforementioned unique Switch 2 box art not on the standard console.

What Nintendo has neglected to reveal at this stage is how much this bundle is going to cost. Normally, you'd expect it to cost the same as the Pokemon Legends: ZA Bundle at $499.99, saving you $20. However, with console prices rising elsewhere, there's no guarantee Nintendo will eventually buckle and not follow suit. As it stands, the Switch 2 is still the same price it was when it launched last June.
