Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket's January Premium Pass Moltres X promo has been a divisive one. On the one hand, it's another copy of the meta's most relevant cards. On the other hand, it's a pretty weak card that pales in comparison to November's Pikachu card and December's Mewtwo one's artwork.

Gotta catch 'em, gotta catch 'em (yeah).
Thankfully, if you're among the many players disappointed by the offer, there's a small silver lining – Moltres pre-promo flares are available right off the bat.
You can make the Pokemon Trading Card Game pocket Moltres straight away
Generally, to get flares for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket Cards, you need to discard your duplicates. Since Moltres ex is a one-time promo, that's not the case, and as pointed out on Reddit by user MaKTaiL, you can get flares for the card the second time you get it.
There are four flares available for Moltres X in TCG Pocket:
-
Sparkles Flare: Gold (stars appear on the card)
-
Burst Flare: Orange (orange fireworks burst from the card)
-
Feathers Flare: Orange (Fiery orange feathers appear from the card)
-
Flames Flare: Orange (orange fire spirals out of the card)
To buy all four flares, you're looking at around 7,200 Shinedust, and if you're like me, you have more than you know what to do with, so this seems like an ideal opportunity to spend them.
It doesn't make sense that this trick works for any one-time promo, so previous Pikachu and Mewtwo Premium Pass cards can be instantly flashed, like the New Year's Pikachu promo that was just given out.
Of course, this won't make much of a difference to people who don't use Moltres pre in their competitive decks, but for those who do, it's a nice little bonus that comes with the card.
