Portgas D. Ace is one of the most important characters a piece And a man that fans have come to love over the years. In the first half of the series, Ace debuted during the Arbusta arc, where it was revealed that he was Luffy's older brother. Ace became a point of focus after the fight against Blackbeard, which led to him being handed over to the Marines and eventually, setting up his execution at the Battle of the Summit. Given his importance to the story as a pirate, and of course, more importantly, Luffy's older brother, Ace was always meant to be very powerful.

One Piece: Why Luffy's next bounty will be the highest in the series
Luffy gets a big reward after taking down Kaido. His highest reward is given to him in the final saga of a piece.
In fact, his debut with the power of Mera Mera No Me, was proof enough for fans that he was the strongest in the story at that time. However, Ace Paramount died in the battle, where it was made clear to fans that he was not in Akanu's favored league. However, Ace remains one of the most underrated characters a pieceAnd very few people even know the fact that Ace had the ability to use powerful Haki.
Portgas D. Ace's Haki types
- Ace is a user of all Haki types
- Ace is one of the youngest winning hockey players
When it comes to Ace's powers, fans know that he relied on Mera Mera No Me. This devil fruit was incredibly powerful, and definitely one of the best logos fans have ever seen. This allowed him to manipulate fire, as well as transform into fire at will. Ace continued to use it in many of the battles he fought in One Piece, including battles against Smoker and of course, later down the line, Blackbeard and others in the Paramount War. While Mera Mera No Me, which Ace mastered over the years, is often considered the greatest source of his power, very few fans know that Ace was also an avid user of Haki, making him one of the most powerful fighters in history. In fact, Ace could use all three types of Haki and he was a great user of them.
Luffy, do you have it too? – Ace
Ace's observational Haki has not been focused much in the series, but, since he was a pirate in the new world where he fought against other powerful people, it is no surprise to know that he possessed this ability. When it comes to the color of Supreme King, many fans know that Ace possessed this type of Haki and that he awakened it at a young age when he saved Dadan the day the Gray Terminal was burned by the Nobles of Goa Kingdom. It was certainly impressive, and he finally had the potential to learn how to infuse it. Unfortunately, this day never came.
How Ace acquired and improved his weapon Haki
Ace Awakened Color of Arms Haki on Sabaody Archipelago
Ace has clearly not used observation hockey a pieceBut what is clear is that he had the ability to use Armament Haki to great effect, something that perhaps no one knows about. Ace awakened the power of armament hockey during his journey through the Grand Line. Specifically, on the islands of the Sabaody Archipelago, Ace faced off against the Vice Admiral Draw of the Marines. Being a Vice Admiral, Dro had access to Armament Haki and caused all kinds of problems for Ace, who at this point, thought that being a Logia meant he could beat most people with ease.
I will never run away! – Ace
While Ace initially struggles in this battle, he is revealed to be such a genius that he manages to learn Armament Haki by watching the battle, and uses it against the draw. Ace's Armament Haki was incredibly powerful, where this Vice Admiral was easily defeated. Ace is also offered the chance to join the Seven Warders of the Sea, but he flatly declines the offer, knowing that he has a bigger goal in his sights.
Around the Fishman Island arc, and almost to the New World, Ace continued to grow his hockey. Fans know that when he fought against Jinbe, he pulled off one of the most shocking feats. During this battle, Ace was able to perforate Jinbe's Armament Haki with his flames. When these two fought, fans saw Ace's level. Apparently, Jinbe is a very powerful person with a bounty of 1.11 billion berries. Yet, in the battle against Ace, he was the first to fall. In fact, after the fight against Jinbe was over, which many claim was a tie, Ace continued to fight Whitebeard in the ring of fire and finally stood his ground until his death.

A Fragment: Oda leaves a major clue about Elbaf's destruction
Elbaf can be destroyed in one piece. Here is a sign of Oda in that direction.
As he continued to train with Whitebeard, Ace's power improved dramatically in both his Devil Fruit ability and hockey. He became one of the strongest fighters, and it can be safely said that his reward of 550 million berries did not do him justice in any way. Ace was clearly in the same league as an Arab-berry pirate, if not more, and this was reflected well in the Paramount battle, where he clashed with Kuzan of the Marines and held his own incredibly well. Even before this, Ace faced off against Yamato in Wano, and despite Yamato being a skilled user of all three types of Haki, including Conqueror's Haki Infusion, he held his own incredibly well. This battle also resulted in a tie, once again showing that Ace possessed an incredibly high level of power.
Of course, Ace got burned in the battle against Akanu, but that was always bound to happen and in the end, he sacrificed his life for Luffy. Ace's strength has always been underrated, unfortunately, due to the fact that fans didn't get to see much of his journey until recently.
Ace's potential as a fighter was immense
Ace is one of the most talented of the piece
Unfortunately, S died a pieceHowever, if he had survived, he would have won the era. Ace had great potential, as Sengoku openly stated that he would become the leader of a new generation and become the next Roger. This means that if Ace had time to grow into his abilities, he would have received a bounty of over 5 billion and terrorized the government in his own way. His abilities may be even greater than Luffy's, and that's definitely saying a lot.
The biggest reason the Navy executed Ace outright was because he carried Roger's blood and they knew that if they made the mistake of letting him escape in any way, they would pay the price in the future, because Ace had that ability. As fans know, in the end, Ace died and he never lived up to his potential. But, he lived his life like a flame, incredibly bright and quick to burn.
A piece is available to read through Viz Media. Series fans can read the series officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1132 is set for December 1, 2024.
