Warning: The following is The Blue Box, episode 7, “Am I One?”, now streaming on Netflix.
blue box Episode 7, “Can I Have One?” Eimei High's various sports teams are shown preparing for and participating in their respective prefectural qualifiers. Some of the action shots look different than usual, possibly because parts of Episode 7 were outsourced to Studio Masket. Some of the high-speed movement scenes made some characters, especially Chinatsu, look like different people. It's a bit of a departure from the usual work of a telecom animation film, but it's not terrible per se and not detrimental to the episode as a whole.
Taiki no longer acted shy and insecure around him when talking to Chinatsu. He also does some hilarious role-playing when he sees Chinatsu on the way home by pretending not to know where she lives and helping her carry one of her bags home. There's a noticeable difference in how the two interact now compared to how they were at the beginning of the series, so it's nice to see some progress between them.

Chinatsu advance
Eimei High's girls basketball team won their qualifier game
blue boxEpisode 6, “Wish Me Luck” was where Hina swept her way through the rhythmic gymnastics prefectural qualifiers, and now it's chintsu time for the basketball prefectural qualifiers. They only showed up for a few seconds of the prefectural qualifier, won by Chinatsu's team, but the real drama came later in the game. Last year, Chinatsu and one of his teammates overheard their rivals from Kagohara High discussing Eimei High's performance in the qualifiers. They singled out Chinatsu and said that his performance was not much improved from last year and that his safety would not be an issue.
Later, Taiki finds out about the discussion and tells Chinatsu that she shouldn't pay any attention to them, to which she disagrees. Chinatsu basically said that she would take their criticism and shove it in their faces after winning their match. This is the first time blue box Chinatsu's aggressive side is actually shown, which is good since she can come across as a flat character at times, especially since she hasn't gotten a full episode from her perspective unlike Hina. hopefully, blue box Chinatsu expands further on that fired-up and crazy side.
“No, I care about it! I care, and then I win. If I do well in the Kagohara match and we win…they won't say anything like that again.” -Chinatsu tells Taiki not to care about what his opponents are saying
Taiki advance
In badminton? for sure in love? Eh… a little bit
The badminton qualifier match hasn't come yet, but Taiki shows significant improvement in his badminton skills. For the first time, Taiki managed to defeat Haryu in one set. Of course, it was only during practice, and the game itself was cut short because their coach advised them not to tire themselves before the qualifiers, but it's still good progress. Now viewers just have to wait for the next episode/s to see if the improvements are enough to get him through the qualifiers.
As for his progress with Chinatsu, as mentioned above, since their aquarium date in episode 5 he is now much more comfortable around her. He also took Chinatsu on a quick trip to the temple where he often prays to pray for their upcoming matches, which was nice. A quiet moment for them.
It's not all progress though, because at the end of the episode, Taiki has a conversation with Kyo about his plans with Chinatsu to make sure he's able to enter the Inter-High Tournament. It looks like he's not sure about asking Chinatsu out even though he can officially go to Inter-High, if he gets kicked out, it'll be awkward for the two of them to continue living in the same house. This revelation is a bit confusing and feels like a step back, with Taiki's main motivation for wanting to enter citizenship to ask him to be on the same level as Chinatsu.

Hina advance
For fried chicken and love
As mentioned earlier, Hina had already won her prefectural qualifiers blue boxis the previous episode, so there isn't much of him in episode 7. She really only appears as part of a group of girls who see Taiki's group hanging out in front of a convenience store.
The episode's title stems from Hina walking up to Taiki a bit, grabbing a piece of his karaage and chewing on it right in front of Chinatsu. To think, in the last episode, this same Hina was lost and depressed, and now, she's back in super close to Taiki. Only now, there's a hint of jealousy-inducing flirting in her friendly side.
After Hina leaves, Chinatsu approaches Taiki, asking him “Do I have one?”, and also tells him that Hina made him jealous. He probably said he was joking around, but some jokes are half-meant. This scene may be the first sign of a basketball fangirl having a thing for a badminton fanboy.
