PlayStation has recently started sending emails and messages to PS4 users urging them to upgrade to the PS5 ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6's release, which many are taking as a sign of incoming marketing.
As of this week, it's been over a year since we last looked at Grand Theft Auto 6, with everyone thinking that Rockstar is moments away from dropping big news about the game. The endless theories about Trailer 3 get a bit much at times, with all the comments and interviews from Take-Two's CEO about GTA 6 making it seem more likely that it's coming soon.
For a while now, we've been promised that marketing for GTA 6 will start this summer and, with it still being a good month and a bit away, it sounds like Rockstar is gearing up to announce something soon. A great example of this just popped up today, as PlayStation started randomly reaching out to PS4 users to ask them to get ready for the game's launch.

Even “top GTA 5 players” are poking at making the switch
As pointed out by Twitter user GTAVI_Countdown, PS4 players have reported receiving messages directly from PlayStation, telling them to “get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready when Grand Theft Auto 6 launches.” One version of this message says it's because the player has GTA 6 on their wishlist, while another says it's because the user is a “top Grand Theft Auto 5 player”.
More than anything, this is probably the biggest sign we've gotten yet that GTA 6's November release date is as locked in as it could be. PlayStation has specifically left the game out of its 2026 roundups in the past, but it now seems so confident in the game's release timing that it's actively telling players to get ready for it.
Given everything else that's been happening regarding GTA 6 over the past few weeks, some are taking PlayStation's email as a sign that news on the game is coming fast. I would caution anyone getting on that hype train to keep expectations in check, but it's likely to be seen in the long run.
