The news comes just days after PlayStation confirmed it will move away from physical game releases starting in January 2028. Although Sony made it clear that PS5 games released before January 2028 will necessarily receive physical reprints, that hasn't stopped constant criticism from being directed at the company. Sony's decision also attracted the attention of politicians around the world, with two Mexican legislators considering an antitrust case against PlayStation over its digital exclusivity push. Lawmakers claimed that Sony would create a monopoly on PlayStation games by going fully digital with future PlayStation games and would be detrimental to players across the country who do not have access to high-speed Internet.
