Rayman Origins is getting a remaster with 4K 60fps support

In February, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot teased that Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition would only be “the first step in the brand's comeback.” Sure enough, leaks started pouring in about the reimagining of Legends, with an expected reveal as early as next week. However, it doesn't end there.

As spotted by X user Wario 64 , Ubisoft accidentally pushed the store page live before making any announcements for Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, with a placeholder price of $1,999.99.

Origin: Enhanced Edition was listed for Xbox Series X/S only, so it's unclear if it will be compatible with Xbox One consoles.

“Enjoy Rayman Origins with modern enhancements including 4K resolution, 60 FPS, and new quality-of-life features.” As stated in the description. “Discover 60 hidden relics throughout the adventure and track your progress in the Snoring Tree.”

Aside from this brief snippet, the description doesn't tell us anything we don't already know, but there are some fun theories about how this remaster might tie into Legends Retold.

Rayman fans think that The Origins Remaster could be a shadow drop during The Legends Retold reveal next week.

Reddit user u/m1n3c7afty continued the momentum of the 30th Anniversary Edition, suggesting that Legends “could cut Origins levels to make room for new content, as Legends already had about two-thirds of them, and Origins Enhanced will drop shadows with Retold's Reveals”.

It's a tempting idea: Ubisoft unveils Legends Retold next week, with a release date penciled in for later this year, leaving an Origins Enhanced shadowdrop to tide us over until then.

Right now, the only way to play Rayman Origins on modern hardware is to buy an Xbox 360 copy through the backwards compatibility program. There is no current gen option for PS4 and PS5 users except for the levels available in Rayman Legends.

It's unclear what the actual price for the remaster will be — certainly not $2,000 — but for a rough idea of what to expect, Rayman Origins is currently $14.99 in the Microsoft Store, while the 30th Anniversary Edition re-release of the original game is $19.99.

Between this and the reimagining of The Legends, Ubisoft is bringing back its limbless mascot, but so far, the comeback has been a combination of re-releases and remakes, nothing new. Hopefully, that will change soon. Maybe another 3D platformer, eh?
