Game Rant recently previewed some of the technology the manufacturer will have on display at CES 2025 and naturally, its televisions didn't fail to impress. While Samsung's lineup includes larger sizes and 8K resolutions, the biggest development in its 2025 lineup is the way the QN series takes advantage of artificial intelligence.
Samsung's QN Series TV
That family of Samsung televisions, including the QN900F, QN800F, and QN700F, are equipped with NQ4 AI Gen 3 processors. These processors offer ways to interact with one's favorite scenes with features such as identifying filming locations, capturing an actor's filmography, or cooking and purchasing ingredients for a television show. In terms of viewing, these AI chips can also upscale low-definition content to match the display resolution for 4K.
The QN90F is going to feature the largest consumer display model on the market at 115 inches. As pixel size increases with screen size, Samsung is taking advantage of its new work with AI, using supersized picture-enhancer technology to reduce the blurriness associated with the size class. One of the most impressive uses of AI technology that Samsung has developed over the past few years is its ability to convert old media. The distinctive look of early color televisions is, ironically, a thing of the past thanks to Samsung's AI. Previewed televisions had the ability to pick up the same show M*A*S*H And turn it into something that looks like it was filmed today.
AI has also been implemented to provide custom sound. It can also provide home security using the AI suite, Vision AI, Knox Matrix service to encrypt data and also monitor the environment for sudden and unexpected movements and sounds that could indicate an emergency in the home. All of these will be available on their new flagship S95F model with screens with a gamer-focused refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. The company claims that combining the AI suite with that refresh rate can deliver the most immersive and realistic picture quality in the industry.
Making the TV a home museum
Another feature that will be of great benefit to gamers is the increased focus on glare resistance. Samsung says that nearly 3 out of 5 people rate anti-glare as a top priority for their viewing and gaming experiences, so the company has focused heavily on giving its 2025 line-up the best – in this case, the lowest – reflectivity possible. . It's doubling down on what Samsung built on earlier with the S95D. The new S95F flagship television features a largely upgraded set of anti-glare design decisions, some of which carry over to one of Samsung's most interesting recent lines: the frame.
A major distinguishing feature of a frame is how it looks when closed. Unlike the ubiquitous black mirror screens that usually form when powered down, the Frame focuses on another Samsung feature to turn the television into a work of art. Drawing from hundreds of museum galleries and thousands of artworks, the frame displays the artwork of the user's choice when closed. Its form factor is designed to look like a slim, minimal modern frame (hence the name) so that it can look like a print of a famous artwork like Van Gogh's Starry Night when not in use. The company promises that Frames will deliver gallery-quality photos at home.
Adding to the ability to disguise the television as artwork are the frame's anti-glare capabilities, Neo-QLED display, 144 Hz refresh rate, and Pantone-certified colors that bring an air of authenticity to the pictures available in Samsung's collection. However, it should be noted that Samsung's collection of artifacts is not limited to frame televisions, but is available on most of its 2025 lineup.
That aesthetic, and flush-to-the-wheel design, would be significantly hampered by the issue of cable management, so there are no cables in the frame. Instead, Samsung boasts a Wireless One connection box, which handles the cables for the television.
All together, this development of things Samsung has been preparing for some time makes them a company to watch out for. CES opens on January 7.
