Steam Users can claim one of five free keys from KeyXP, but there's a catch: They must first complete an anonymous survey. Steam's official free-to-keep promotions have felt a little sparse in the last days of June, leaving PC users hoping for more goodies in July.
While the current promotion is not part of Steam's 2026 free-to-keep events, it still comes from a reliable source that has been giving out free keys for some time. KeyXP is part of GameDiscoverCo, an analytics firm focused on PC gaming. The company often uses free Steam keys to encourage players to complete surveys about video games and consumer opinions.

According to KeyXP, the company uses public data from users' accounts as well as their survey responses to create case studies and industry analyses. For example, it can use the collected data to show other PC strategy game players Sid Meier's Civilization Tendency to play more often, or which groups of players pay more attention to traditional game reviews. The company also explained that one of the reasons it asks for Discord or Steam credentials is to prevent automated bots from filling out surveys.
One thing to note is that every game featured in KeyXP's giveaway is currently 80% to 90% off, with most of them dropping to less than $2 USD. In other words, a free key earned from surveys might not be the biggest savings, although free is still free, and many PC users will appreciate the opportunity. On the positive side, most of the indie Steam games featured in the promotion currently hold positive reviews on the platform, except AWAY: An Unexpected JourneyWhich sits in “mixed” as writing.
