Subnautica 2 Celestine Locations and Farming Guide

Celestine is a crafting material Subnautica 2 Which pushes players into deeper exploration, requiring them to visit the alien biome east of the hot zone. You will naturally be directed to this biome Subnautica 2 After completing an objective in Tadpole Pens, and it is highly recommended that you pick up a vehicle and materials to set up a base and scanner station.

For help with other crafting materials, see our Subnautica 2 Resource Guide Hub.

How to make a tadpole in Subnautica 2

Here's how to find and scan the three tadpole pieces to unlock the vehicle blueprint and craft it into your base in Subnautica 2.

Where to find Celestine

Found in the Celestine Alien Biome

Celestine can be found in the alien biome about 1,200 meters east of the lifepod. This is the third biome you can visit, and it's east of the hot biome, beyond Collector Leviathan. You'll find dark blue water and alien formations in this area, and the Tadpole is very protective of hostile creatures. Make sure you repair your vehicle before you face the Leviathan if you get caught.

Before you climb the rock and start finding the alien structures, you can find a blue-silver ore with a smaller protrusion than titanium, as soon as you reach the east edge of the pit with the Collector Leviathan. If you're looking for a safer option, head further into the Alien Biome and check out the cliff faces south of the Alien Ruins waypoint, about 290m away at a depth of 250m+.

Since Tadpole's maximum depth starts at 250 meters, you will have to swim to the Celestine Nodes. Make sure your oxygen management is under control to avoid overdose.

The alien ruins head towards the waypoint area

You'll gain access to the alien ruins after interacting with NOA outside the locked door in the Tadpole Pens. While you can collect the Celestine before getting that waypoint, it's very useful for finding the area, and I recommend waiting until you have it.

Build a scanner station at Farm Celestine

Setting up a small base in the alien biome, and placing a scanner station on it, makes finding Celestine much easier. To begin with, this base doesn't need to be more than a room with a resource tracking facility, although you may want to expand it over time. I suggest building a base near the current, so you can use it with hydroelectric turbines, and you'll run into several right after crossing the gap with the Collector Leviathan.

For more information, see our guide on building a scanner station and tracking resources.

What is Celestine used for

Celestine is used to create modification stations, which you can use to upgrade your vehicles and equipment. For example, the feature can reduce your tadpole's power consumption and allow you to upgrade your scanner to a bioscanner. So finding Celestine is critical to both survivability and continued progress.

Celestine farming tips

  • Make sure you have a vehicle with high durability and power before going after Celestine.

  • Bring your habitat builder and materials so you can set up a base with a scanner station in the alien biome. Titanium, copper, quartz and silver are all recommended.

  • Attach a portable locker to your Tadpole for more inventory space.

  • Consider carrying an extra power cell for your Tadpole if you don't plan to have vehicles at your base right away.
