Ark Raiders It's going to be many players' first foray into the world of extraction shooters, especially for the console crowd who haven't had access to many of the genre's mainstays, and instead have been cursed with things like DMZ.
But players new to the genre may not immediately know which skills will make the most immediate difference, and which ones aren't worth the initial investment. There are a handful of skills that are going to make a difference every single round, and they'll make the transition to genre quite easy to handle.
8
Robber's instincts
You're going to spend a lot of time looting on Ark Raiders; That's going to be true soon, and it's going to be true later. There's no way around that fact, but one thing that can make it a little easier is a quick loot.
This skill is going to speed up the loot reveal in the container. On the face of it, it doesn't seem like it would make an incredible difference, but the time saved during the entire round adds up to something significant.
7
In-round crafting
It will take you a while to figure out every resource you need to craft important items, but one way to speed up that process (and craft some valuable items mid-run) is to gain the crafting ability at the top.
Sometimes you're going to eat through the resources you're carrying in your backpack way faster than you think, and the ability to replenish some of them by crafting above can save you from wiping out and losing all your loot.
6
Silent scavenger
We mentioned it above, but you're robbing quite a bit. You're also catching up with other riders. And there are few easier ways for another Raider to get the drop on you than to listen to you being robbed, and take advantage of your inability to defend yourself.
Silent Scavenger is going to make your scavenger hunt quieter, and it can make a difference. If the enemy doesn't hear you looting, the chances of them detecting your presence are slim. Which means you can get the drop on them, instead.
5
Tight croucher
Stealth is often going to be a tactical necessity in Ark Raiders. Stealth doesn't mean you'll never get into fights or be aggressive; Stealth means you move around silently to get into combat where you have an advantage.
It often requires crouching to move quietly. Unfortunately, crouching slows down your movement quite a bit. But with this skill, it will reduce that movement penalty by a noticeable amount.
4
Marathon runner
There will be large portions of each race where stamina is not an issue. But when stamina becomes an issue, it's suddenly the most valuable resource around, second only to health.
This skill is going to ensure that you use less stamina moving around. This ensures that you can use stamina either defensively or offensively, and this can make a huge difference in combat.
3
Young lungs
This is related to the last skill, and is next in the tree. What's better than taking less stamina to perform your tasks? Having more stamina to begin with.
Both these skills combined will make a huge difference for you. You're going to be very competent with this skill combination, and other players won't be able to keep up.
2
Gentle pressure
There are going to be certain containers that you will find in Ark Raiders that will require a breach to open. It's an extremely loud (and sometimes overwhelming) process, and it can attract the wrong kind of attention.
This skill significantly calms the breach. This doesn't convert it into a stealth operation by any means, but it does mean that enemies have to be measurably closer to hear it rather than being seen somewhere within a 50 meter range.
1
Efficient prayer
While the sound aspect of a container breach is certainly the most worrisome, the time it takes to breach can also be an important factor. This is less so when it comes to stealth operations, and more important when it comes to breaching objects like arc probes.
Arc probes are often lying in the middle of an open area, and time spent around them is time that can only be spent in the enemy's crosshairs. Being able to open things up quickly means you can return to relative safety very quickly.
