Sony's June State of Play announcement (one of many, to be fair) was unmistakable. Laufey God of War. running parallel to god of war A Norse saga, this spin-off title moves away from Kratos as its protagonist, instead following Faye, also known as Laufe the Just, a Jotun warrior and late wife of Kratos, as she navigates the afterlife after her cremation. The lengthy gameplay demo showed off several new features, including a more mobile combat system, some really unusual companion characters, and a couple of gods from the pantheon that we haven't seen before in the franchise.

God Laufe Release Date Compiled by Reliable Sources
Another entry in the beloved God of War franchise, War Lofe, has its release date narrowed down by a trusted insider.
While those two gods are certainly interesting, Laufey God of War Everyone, is set in an afterlife where (literally) all the gods are united after their death. As such, it's not a stretch to assume that we'll see some familiar faces during this campaign, possibly ones that Kratos has smashed before. We are definitely excited to see these battles against each other Dead gods will play out, but we're even more excited about the possibilities they bring to the story. After all, many of these gods are unreliable at best, downright murderous at worst, and some even have an unfriendly history with the fey.

run away
The Master Manipulator has a deep connection with Atres
- appears in: God of War Ragnarok
run away He had been hunting Fei for a long time. His attempt (and Tyr's) to hide the Realm Tower in Jotunheim greatly frustrated both Odin and Thor in their attempts to “unify” the Nine Realms through force and subjugation. This is why he and Kratos make their home in the Wildwood in an attempt to hide from Alphadar's ravens.
Odin probably has a much bigger bone to pick with the Fae, though. Eventually, his son, Atreus, cast a spell that trapped Odin's soul in marble. Because Fai is a clairvoyant (a common trait of the Zotnar), she likely knew that Kratos and Arteus' journey would lead to Alphadar's death. However, we don't know if she was aware that her son would outright defeat her. Even though Sindri tore up the marble Technically This means that Odin's soul cannot reach the afterlife, this is a very cunning god we are talking about. If anyone can find a way to slip through the rules of Everybody, it's Odin.
Thor
God of Thunder has a controversial history with Laufey
- appears in: God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarok
Fay and Thor go back The Carnage God of Thunder of the Nine Realms had driven Jotunheim to exile himself from the Land of Demons in order to hide and keep his people safe. However, before that, he and Thor battled swords, and by all accounts, it was a fight for the ages. Both Kratos and Mimir have waxed poetic about Faye's fighting abilities, with Kratos claiming that she “fought beautifully” and that those abilities were clearly on display in her fight against the God of Thunder.

The key to Laufey, the God of War, is the big bad hiding in plain sight
God Laufey has revealed some of the threats he faces against the Fey, but the biggest may be lurking around the corner.
Faye's battle with Thor eventually ends in a stalemate (much like Kratos' battle with Thor), due to the collision of Mjolnir and the Leviathan Ax and the destruction of a nearby valley settlement. Thor had a change of heart shortly before his death and Odin (largely due to his relationship with Atreus and his relationship with Thor's daughter Thrud), the God of Thunder in history, could prevent him from being an immediate ally with the Fae.
Baldur
Baldur's quest for Fai consumed him
- appears in: God of War (2018), God of War Ragnarok)
His mother cursed him with immortality to prevent the prophecy of his “unnecessary death”. Baldur He was desperate to be freed from his inability to feel anything: be it pain, pleasure, or even temperature. Odin, possibly for no other reason than to manipulate his son, convinces Baldur that finding the Fae is the key to breaking his curse. So Baldur arrives at Kratos' cabin in the Wildwood. Unbeknownst to him, Faye was already dead.
Through much fighting and suffering, Kratos finally manages to kill Baldur with the help of Freya, after the God of Light goes all mad. Between his tenuous grip on reality, his obsessive quest for Fae to lift his curse, and his vendetta against Kratos for, well, killing him, it stands to reason that if Baldur were to meet Fae in the afterlife, his bones might be picked. He would also be an excellent candidate to form an uneasy alliance with the fey against some of the strongest gods ever found.
Zeus
Kratos and his father did not get along
- appears in: God of War, God of War 2, God of War 3, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, God of War: Ascension, God of War (2018)
He was initially presented as a benefactor God of War (2005), Zeus Quickly changed his tune, placing a curse on Callisto that transformed him into a monster if he revealed his relationship with Kratos, and tortured Deimos because he believed Kratos' brother was the prophesied “marked warrior”. The irony was that Kratos was, in the end, the marked warrior that Zeus would kill him and claim his throne.
When Kratos opened Pandora's Box to gain the upper hand in the battle against Ares, he released the Evils of the Titanomachy, which consisted of all the gods of Olympus, including Zeus. These evils drove Zeus insane, driving him to betray and repeatedly attempt to kill Kratos. However, in the end god of war 3, When Kratos expels the evils from Zeus, the Lord of Olympus ceases resistance against his son. Kratos still brutally murders his father, fulfilling the prophecy that had terrified Zeus for so long, but Zeus seems to accept his fate. This makes for an interesting opportunity Laufey God of War. While Zeus could act as a (very powerful) threat to Faye's advances, she could also see his attempts to aid Kratos and Atreus as an opportunity to redeem himself. It all depends on the version of Zeus we get.
Ares
The Greek God of War provides a unique perspective on Faye's husband
- appears in: God of War, God of War 2, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, God of War: Ascension,
It's been a hot minute since we saw it ares, The original Greek god of war (unless you count the statues of him in the background God of War: Sons of Sparta). Her death at the hands of Kratos, wielding the god's blade, was a turning point for all of Olympus. Ares was plotting to kill Zeus and take his throne, so Zeus supported Kratos. God of War (2005). After defeating Ares and claiming the title of God of War for himself, Kratos placed Ares' soul in a vessel in his throne room.

Each god confirmed to be in Laufey's God of War
There are many gods expected to appear and clash with the Fae in God of War Laufey, and here's everyone on the roster so far.
Here's the interesting part. After Kratos was betrayed by Zeus and thrown into Hades, he never returned to his original throne room except as a delusion. As such, we don't know what happened to Ares' soul. He may still be there, trapped forever, or he may have been released forever. While we know that Kratos told Fey about his past, we also know that, with Atreus, he left certain parts intentionally vague, including many details surrounding his deal with Ares. Did he do the same with Faye? If so, there is an opportunity Laufey God of War Faye faces the hard and ugly truth about the husband she is fighting so hard to protect.
