The ZA DLC officially removes the strongest Pokemon trainer in the series after 19 years

Spoilers for Pokemon Legends: ZA and Mega Dimension DLC ahead.

Pokemon Legends: ZAThe Mega Dimension DLC came out less than a week ago, and it's already shaking up the game in meaningful ways with 19 new Mega Evolutions and returning moves in the form of TMs. You can get all new moves from an NPC Pokemon Legends: ZA Which trades TMs for Mega Shards, and they can be incredibly good for the base game's Pokedex and Hyperspace Lumios. For example, a medium Pokemon like Leafeon gets a big buff with Solar Blade, while a powerhouse like Skarmory gets Magnet Bomb. Aside from the new moves and megas, the DLC also adds a new trainer battle that is officially the toughest in the series, even surpassing the iconic trainer from almost 20 years ago.

As far as the anime goes, Ash is the strongest Pokemon trainer out there, becoming the Pokemon Master in the big tournaments like Leon, Diantha, Cynthia and other powerful trainers. However, first Pokemon Legends: ZAThe video game series has always had one strong trainer chosen by fans, and that is the original version of Cynthia as the champion of the Pokemon League. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. There are a few title holders over the years, or past, and they are:

  • Whitney (Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal): Whitney's Miltank is one of the hardest Pokemon to beat in the series for inexperienced players, and it can cause you some real damage, even back in the day. This is the most challenging fight in the series, but it's quite difficult for its intended level.
  • red (Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal): The legendary Pokémon trainer, Red, fought atop Mount Silver and used a team of high-level critters, including the three Kanto starters, Pikachu, Snorlax, and Aspen. Despite the high-level team, Red isn't too hard to beat, as the game favors certain strategies and overplays others.
  • naïve (Pokemon Legends: Arceus): however PLAKo Volo Technically, Cynthia is hard to beat, thanks to her powerful team of six high-level Pokemon, she is the only trainer. Yes, he packs a punch and makes things extremely difficult with the seventh Pokemon on his team, Giratina, who also has a second form after being defeated, but Cynthia was the last battle after the Elite Four.

now, Pokemon Legends: ZA's DLC adds the toughest battle yet in the form of Taunie/Urbain, who has six level 100 Pokemon, four with Mega Evolving enabled, and other powerful setups and items. This fight requires you to completely beat the game to unlock it, further vindicating the fact that this is the ultimate challenge.

It's time to welcome the toughest trainer in the Pokemon games

How Pokémon Legends: ZA's DLC Taunie and Urbain Battle Beats Cynthia

While Pokemon Legends: ZAWhile the story series isn't very hard to beat, there are a lot of tough battles to beat the game completely. Towards the end of the story the battle against Taunie or Urbain can be difficult; Boss fights against Ange take time and effort; And after 15 rounds of Infinite ZA Royale the fight against Taunie or Urbain is only easy with fully maxed teams.

However, the Mega Dimension DLC gives Taunie/Urbain another tough fight, and considering their team is the toughest in the series. This includes:

  • Mega Meostic (Lv. 100) – Item: Meowsticite

    • Moves: Light Screen, Reflect, Psychic, Will

  • Gudara (Lv. 100) – Item: Assault Vest

    • Moves: Surf, Acid Spray, Draco Meteor, Snowfall

  • Avalugg (Lv. 100) – Item: Leftovers

    • Moves: Icicle Crash, Icicle Spear, Stone Edge, Protect

  • Mega Mantric (Lv. 100) – Item: Manectite

    • Moves: Snarl, Thunder, Overheat, Protect

  • Mega Meganium (Lv. 100) – Item: Meganiumite

    • Moves: Frenzy Plant, Earth Power, Dazzling Glow, Giga Drain

  • Mega Feraligator (Lv. 100) – Item: Feraligite

    • Moves: Outrage, Liquidation, Sword Dance, Earthquake

  • Mega Amboar (Lv. 100) – Item: Emboarite

    • Moves: Flare Blitz, Stone Edge, Close Combat, Bulk Up

While the list includes all three Mega Evolutions Pokemon Legends: ZAof starters, Taunie/Urbain only use two of them based on the starter you choose. The last Pokemon that will be super effective against your starter will be the ones they use in battle.

To unlock the fight against Taunie/Urbain's strongest team, you have to complete all the side missions from 1 to 199, which will give you access to “Here in Lumiose City” and help them with some tasks. Taunie/Urbain is the only trainer in the series to have a full team of level 100 Pokemon.

Cynthia's team in Pokemon Gen 4 explained

By comparison, Cynthia's Team Inn Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Very weak, but it's unexpectedly well adapted and powerful for its level. This includes:

  • spiritumb – Lv. 61
  • rogerade – Lv. 60
  • Gastrodon – Lv. 60
  • hidden away – Lv. 63
  • Milotic – Lv. 63
  • Garchomp – Lv. 66

It's worth noting that Fairy-type Pokemon didn't exist in Gen 4, so Spiritomb had no weakness.

Pokemon Legends: ZA's second-hardest DLC battle isn't as bad as it seems

A full team of six level 100 Pokemon is already a huge feat, but this becomes the hardest battle of the series since Taunie/Urbain will Mega Evolve four of them in one battle. Another trainer in the series is Korina, who captures Rayquaza and becomes a potential challenger in the Infinite ZA Royale. Pokemon Legends: ZA.

Korina uses six Pokemon, but they are not the maximum level, and range from level 95 to 100. These are:

  • Mega Galad (Lv. 95) – Item: Galladite

    • Moves: Holy Sword, Close Combat, Bulk Up, Psycho Cut

  • Mega Crbominable (Lv. 95) – Item: Crabominite

    • Moves: Ice Hammer, Iron Defense, Dynamic Punch, Match Punch

  • Mega Medicham (Lv. 97) – Item: Medichamite

    • Moves: Zen Headbutt, Dynamic Punch, Ice Punch, Recover

  • Mega Hawlucha (Lv. 99) – Item: Hawluchanite

    • Moves: Flying Press, Swords Dance, Feather Dance, Brave Bird

  • Mega Chesnaught (Lv. 99) – Item: Chesnaughtite

    • Moves: Spikey Shield, Close Combat, Wood Hammer, Stone Edge

  • Mega Lucario Z (Lv. 100) – Item: Lucarionite Z

    • Moves: Focus Blast, Hyper Beam, Detect, Flash Cannon

Technically, this fight can be even harder than Taunie/Urbain, but with two major caveats:

  • Korina's Pokemon are not level 100 except for Lucario Z, and later Pokemon Legends: ZAAs the Hyperspace Lumiose regions require level 100 Pokemon to efficiently handle the DLC content, players will essentially have a full squad of level 100 critters.

  • Corrina specializes in Fighting-type Pokemon, meaning a mix of Psychic, Flying, and Fairy critters will ensure an easy win.

As such, Corrina's new fight is still tough, but probably not as tough as Cynthia's when considering these factors. The new Taunie/Urbain fight, however, may take a few tries to get it right.
