I have been playing Pokemon Over 27 years of games now, and I think I've accumulated about 11,000 hours in the series – especially given how much I've played. Pokemon Legends: ZA and Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen In the last few months. One of my favorite parts Pokemon The games are that I can befriend the critters I find while exploring new places, and I can train them in different ways to win battles against NPCs and other players. This kind of freedom is hard to beat for me, even though it comes with some limitations. For example, each Pokemon species has its own different abilities, stats, and moves, and while I can customize them to a degree, not exactly for the same types.
You can't really change Pokemon's types, and while Pokemon Scarlet and PurpleTerastallization provided a way to do this temporarily, it is clearly not final. This isn't really a problem, and the best way to deal with it is to build teams with some overlapping types and weaknesses. However, in some excellent type combos Pokemon Games are closed after very few critters, if any. Some types have expanded into other Pokémon over the years, but some never got any representation other than as a pocket monster, as is the case with Empoleon and Hetran.

The strongest Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl (based on stats)
Diamond and Pearl introduced a variety of Pokémon to the series, but these stood out as the strongest of Generation 4.
Say hello to the only Pokemon of their kind
Empoleon and Heatran are some of the best Gen 4 Pokemon due to their type combinations, being Water/Steel and Fire/Steel respectively. These types of combos are strong for a few reasons:

It is undeniable that steel is one of the best types Pokemon Games, if not the best, because it offers incredible protection with its many resistances at the cost of low offensive capabilities. Combined with water and fire, two other incredibly good types, it all becomes stronger. This is especially good in the case of both Empoleon and Heatran because of their abilities.
Empoleon gains access to torrent, a standard ability for all water-type starters Pokemon games, but it also has a competitive edge as a hidden ability. It increases the user's Special Attack by two stages whenever one of its stats is lowered, making Impoleon formidable against Pokemon. As for Heatran, it has Flash Fire and Flame Body, and while the latter is decent for burning opponents, Flash Fire gives Heatran a second defense and a way to heal if hit with a fire move.
Empoleon and Heatran are the only Water/Steel and Fire/Steel types
Even though Empoleon and Heatran are so unique, they are unfortunately the only Water/Steel-type and Fire/Steel-type in the series so far. It is difficult to say whether this will change with the beginning Pokemon wind and waves Or new Pokemon in general, but for now, these two Pokemon have been the only ones of their kind for 19 years — since Pokemon Diamond and Pearl started
These aren't the only Pokemon with this issue, with another great example being the only Dragon/Fairy Pokemon in the Mega Altaria series. However, these are both nearly 20-year-old Pokemon, and it's strange to think that no other Water/Steel or Fire/Steel critters were ever made. Whether ends in new Pokemon wind and waves The pokedex remains to be seen, but I doubt starters in Gen 10 will have any of these combinations.
