November 24, 2024 Updated by Mark Sammut: This month had its share of zombie releases, though most were overshadowed by STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. GSC Game World's open-world survival game had a long, hard road to completion, and the fact that it even came out is cause for celebration. Even by the high standards set by the series it's pretty good. While perhaps not a traditional “zombie” game, Heart of Chernobyl is a must-play for survival horror fans.

Dying Light: The Beast 2015 looks like a throwback to the style and tone of the entry, including the return of Kyle Crane as the protagonist. Set in Castor Woods, the standalone adventure begins with Kyle escaping his imprisonment, leaving him in an environment that has changed greatly over the last decade. More importantly, Kyle has some zombie DNA, which gives him unique abilities.
The “beast” in the title refers to both Kyle and the monster Castor Woods roams. At least, that seems to be the case based on currently available information.

It is difficult to imagine that only one game is called Project Z Very soon to be released, but this World War II zombie shooter has made quite an impression with its trailers. Not only does it provide a lovely atmosphere that adds a bit of horror to a well-executed genre setting, but visually the game offers beautiful lighting and textures.
