That's not a secret Dragon Age: Vilguard A tumultuous development ensued, to say the least, and the fact that it was delivered as a complete, technically sound, and overall solid entry in the beloved franchise is remarkable. Such a long and tumultuous development cycle has doomed many a bad game, but that was not the case here. That said, the game has gone through many iterations and changes since its initial concepts – way back when Dragon Age: Vilguard Originally and internally codenamed Joplin. One of the most interesting changes is its companion hub.
The Art of Dragon Age: The Vialguardwhich is available on Amazon, gives fans an intimate look at how the game's conceptual work changed during its time. It is divided into three sections: Post-Inquisition, Joplin, and Velgard. The first section covers the previously formulated ideas Research Until it was officially codenamed Joplin, the second section covered ideas for the game until the team pivoted. Mass Effect: AndromedaAnd the third was all ideas developed under the codename Morrison. on the way, Dragon Age: Vilguard Abandoned its live-service element, many ideas for features like “Scoundrels”, the concept of various different companions, and, for the longest time, considered an entirely different hub from Lighthouse.

One of the initial ideas for Dragon Age 4The companion hub was a mobile base: a ship. Not only is there an abundance of art depicting what the ship looked like and the areas on board, but there were also stories surrounding this ship. For example, one concept art details players having their ship stolen, players must go into enemy territory to retrieve it. The idea continued to evolve when it was Project Joplin, where the next page talks about how the ship would have been a great backdrop for the interpersonal conflict. Furthermore, there was at least one idea at some point that the ship was bought back by a scrappy fixer-upper for players. Dragon Age Character Isabella.
From ships to submarines to whales to lighthouses
At another point, the ship even had a name: The Dumat (after the first Archdemon). However, the ships were not great for the spy theme Dragon Age: Vilguard Time, so the team went as to consider the incident a submarine. Of course, this brought challenges Dragon Age Team: How would a submarine fit into a fictional setting? This meant there were many iterations to try to adjust the submarine and the hub, the art book looks like a sea monster (called a dragon sub) that was built in Tavern, an underwater mansion behind a real sea creature, a castle behind a giant whale (which swims on screen). , and the island of xenon. As the story grew stronger and the team decided that Solas was trapped in the Fade, it made the most sense to give players access to his base of operations – and the idea of a ship was no more.
It was a long road Dragon Age: VilguardAnd its best art book includes ideas that probably won't hold water, ideas that might, and things that might make it into the game or be left on the cutting room floor. Right now, there are no official plans for BioWare Dragon Age: Vilguard DLC, though that hasn't stopped many fans from asking. It remains to be seen if BioWare will stick with this plan or change its mind, but the silver lining is hopefully fans won't have to wait a decade for the next game.
