Pokemon Legends: ZA Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions are available now, but it's hard not to be disappointed with the latest game in the long-running franchise. Pokemon Legends: Arceus took the main series games in a bold new direction, and so it's understandable that many fans are excited for the follow-up. Pokemon Legends: ZA is the long-awaited sequel to ArsesOffering a new setting, a new battle system, and the return of Mega Evolution.
Hype for Pokemon Legends: ZA Building since its initial announcement, fans are particularly excited about the return of Mega Evolution and the new Mega Evolution debuting in the game. However, anxiety has also increased ZAEspecially after Scarlet and purplepoor performance of
I just started playing Pokemon Legends: ZA And have only logged in for a few hours, but I'm coming away disappointed with the experience so far. Pokemon Legends: ZA That's far from a technological disaster Scarlet and purple was at launch, but there are some aspects about it that are surprising, and it may fall into the same traps as other recent Pokemon Games are in terms of gameplay and pacing. I will play more Pokemon Legends: ZA Before releasing my final verdict, however, my first impression of the game is that it leaves a lot to be desired.
Pokemon Legends: ZA's presentation on Switch 2 is a mixed bag
Pokemon Legends: ZA Switch 2 is an upgraded Switch 1 game, so it wasn't built from the ground-up with Nintendo's beefier home console/handheld hybrid in mind. Because of this, I did not expect Pokemon Legends: ZA The other switch features much better graphics Pokemon games, but I still saw unfortunate issues that I hoped were ironed out on the new console. As soon as I take control of my character Pokemon Legends: ZAOne of the first things I noticed was characters popping up and out of existence. They'll be there, I'll get close to them, they'll disappear, I'll get even closer, they'll appear. This is a disturbing problem in the big Lumiose city, but it also happens in nearby areas.
The colors pop and the frame rate is solid, though Pokemon Legends: ZA Still leaves something to be desired from a graphics standpoint. In terms of audio, it's also disappointing. The game reuses sounds and music from previous games in the series, which is fine for the occasional nostalgia trip, but it's a bit overwhelming here. Most egregious is the complete lack of voice acting, even for the more important cut-scenes, which makes the events playing out on screen feel flat and robs them of their potential impact. I don't need voice acting for every bit of dialogue, but more elaborate cut-scenes are absolutely a must. The lack of it makes the game seem cheap and stuck in the past. It's time Pokemon To evolve and better meet modern standards when it comes to its visual and audio presentation.
Pokemon Legends: ZA is pretty much a hand-hold in the early hours
A common problem Pokemon Games of the last decade have been excessively hand-holding and yapping, and unfortunately, that issue seems to be the plague. Pokemon Legends: ZA Also. I assume things will improve as I progress through the game, but the first handful of missions are tutorials and constant control wrestling from the player to talk. the old Pokemon Games have wasted little time sending players on their adventures and these new gamers can learn a thing or two from their predecessors.
I'm also not sold on the Lumiose City setting. Explore the wild within Pokemon Legends: Arceus Was a blast and gave the game a sense of exploration that I have yet to get ZAThe wild areas of Granted, I've only played the game for a few hours so far, so there's still a chance things will turn around, and I've been made a believer of wild areas, but we'll see.
That doesn't mean I don't still enjoy certain aspects Pokemon Legends: ZA. Pokemon Legends: ZAThe real-time combat system is an interesting change of pace, and the thrill of catching them all is timeless. Still, it's hard not to be disappointed that the follow-up to the groundbreaking Arses Doesn't advance the franchise further, but maybe my perspective will change as I play. Despite its flaws, I'm in Pokemon Legends: ZA For the long haul and there's a chance it'll get better, which I think is true of most moderns Pokemon Games.
The future of Pokemon is bright
Even though I finished it Pokemon Legends: ZA And yet come away disappointed, there's plenty to see in the future Pokemon Games. Game Freak's plans for 2030 have been leaked online, revealing that Generation 10 Pokemon The games are coming as Switch 2 exclusives, the third Legends A game set in the Galar region is on the horizon, and there may even be multi-region Pokemon A remake in the works. Hopefully, with my experience ZA Improvements happen, and the game can tide me over while waiting for more information about the future of the franchise.
