One of the features of playing Pokemon Legends: ZA For about 700 hours it is that I already have all the good Pokemon available Pokemon ChampionsAnd many of them are also shiny. Which doesn't make them more powerful or anything, but if I can make a full shiny team that performs well, I'm more than happy. One of my favorite Pokemon from Mega Evolution's selection Pokemon Legends: ZAThe DLC was Mega Meostic, both because its boss fight was so frustrating and because its design is perfect in my opinion. Also, I love cats, and have three of my own. So, naturally, I was very excited about it Pokemon Champions.
The entire construction of Pokemon Champions' I was very happy with the release, some new abilities were slowly revealed to increase the hype. As soon as it starts with three people Pokemon Legends: ZA Officially receiving their abilities, however, there was a sudden change in expectations – the two Megas, Feralligator and Meganium, received good and powerful abilities, but Mega Amboar did not. Some fans began to worry that their favorite Megas would get bad abilities, and unfortunately, that was the case for many of them, including Mega Meostic. However, it has a redeeming quality.

Pokemon Champions has a Mega Meostic up its sleeve
One of the most common theories I've seen before Pokemon Champions' was released that Mega Meostic will get Psychic Surge. This ability is very powerful, as it allows the user to summon Psychic Terrain upon entering the field, instantly allowing himself or his partner to double battle teams. Pokemon Champions Expanded force clicks and deals ridiculous amounts of damage.

However, this is a possible reason why Psychic Surge was not assigned to Mega Meostic. Pokemon Champions Does not include Indeedee and Rillaboom, presumably to avoid terrain-setting Pokemon for a while. Instead, Mega Meostic got Trace, which is pretty middling at best. What it does is copy one of the opponent's abilities in singles battles and the opponent's Pokémon's abilities in doubles. Essentially, it's very unreliable and sometimes straight-up useless, which is the same problem that Mega Alkazam has had for a decade.
Mega Meostic was immediately written off as useless, and while I don't blame anyone for doing so, given its stats and terrible abilities, it could be much better than Mega Alkazam. This is due to a few reasons:
-
Meowstic gets access to Fake Out, which is a very good priority move to flinch the opponent on the first turn and miss out on some action.
-
It can be competitive with Base Meostic as its ability, which perfectly counters Incineroar Pokemon ChampionsAs well as any other fear users, because it increases the Pokemon's special attack stat by two stages when one of its stats is lowered.
-
Meowstic can still set up Psychic Terrain then go for a hard-hit expanding ball, or it can have its partner do it instead.
-
A very powerful Hisuian Pokemon to pair with Meowstic is Wyrdeer, as it has Intimidation and Skill Swap. This means that Wyrdeer not only reduces the opponent's attack stat when it enters the field, but it can use Skill Swap on the first turn to scare opposing Pokemon and rob them of useful abilities while allowing Meowstic's Competitive proc.
-
Then, after using Protect or Fake Out on turn one, and Wyrdeer's Skill Swap on the same turn, Meowstic can Mega Evolve and enjoy a two-stage special attack boost that carries it for the entire game.
Why Wyrdeer Works in the Pokemon Champions Meta
Giving the opposing Pokemon Intimidate is extremely powerful for criticals with Competitive or Defiant, and may be even better now that Incineroar's usage is on the wane. Pokemon Champions Due to the growth of milotic in meta. Between Milotic and Kingambit, Intimidate can backfire a bit if used on Wyrdeer, but it can give Mega Meowstic the edge it needs.
On top of that, some of the most used Pokemon Pokemon Champions are physical attackers, so Intimidate Weirdear also acts as an insurance policy to make Meowstic more staying power against Snessler and Basculegian. Using Wyrdeer's Skill Swap on Kingambit can also be very good, despite the initial 1-stage boost it gets with Defiant, as Wyrdeer gets Defiant instead of Intimidate, and Kingambit's newly acquired Intimidate procs both Meowstic's Competitive and Wyrdeer's Defiant.
Then, Skill Swap can be used to slow down Unburden from Sneasler, it can be used to take Adaptability away from Basculegion to reduce its damage output, it can be used to control the weather by getting Drizzle or Drought, for example, and it can be used to steal Archaludon's Stamina. There are many applications for this combo, and it single handedly powers Mega Meostic, which I am very grateful for.
It may not be the best Pokemon Pokemon ChampionsBut the Mega Meostic can hold its own if used correctly. On top of that, it's worth noting that after Wyrdeer passes an opponent with a Skill Swap it can trace a horror, reducing the damage output of any physical attacker. If you haven't tried this strategy yet, I highly recommend it. Worst case, it's a fun combo to pull off, but it can also win you some games.
