a piece The Elbaf Arc is everything fans have hoped it would be so far. Intense conflicts, major revelations, and more have made this one of the best arcs in a long time – and considering what came before it, that's saying something. As the Knights of God attempt to take Elbaf for the World Government, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats find themselves in another tough spot.
Elbaf already has some intense moments, and there's likely to be more before the arc reaches its conclusion. With God's knights on the scene and the stakes so high, a piece Fans should be prepared to say goodbye to some of the characters caught up in the conflict. These are some of the characters that don't make it out of Elbaf alive.
of course
The world's oldest giant may have run out of time
At over 400 years old, the former Giant Warrior Pirates co-captain has led a long, eventful life. But his time may be running out. As the Knights of God begin their attack on Elbaf, Jarul, as the nation's elder, is caught in the middle of events on the island.
We've already seen that Jarul is willing to make drastic decisions to save innocent lives, as he burns down the Walrus School and the Owl Library to save 10 child hostages—including his granddaughter, Ylva—who are being threatened by St. Somers and other knights of God. Jarul does not hesitate for a second to put himself in danger if it is to save the people of Elbaf. Twisted Knights of God are running rampant on the island, and with Emu currently tasked with Domi Reverend Dori and Brogi to take out Zarul, his days are numbered.
Shepherd Somers
A potentially game-changing character death
Knights of the Gods play a much larger role in Elbaf than in Wano and Egghead. The current attack on Elbaf is led by Sommers, Gunko, and Killingham. While they've been shown to be incredibly powerful, it wouldn't be too surprising to see Elbaf bite the dust before the end of the arc. If that happens, Shepherd Somers seems like a likely candidate.
We've already seen Somers out-classed in battle twice, first against Nico Robin and then against skipper Gabon. In the case of the former, Somers' immortality—a trait possessed by all of God's knights—protected him from Robin's devastating final blow. But we have seen that Gaban was able to do real damage thanks to Haki, his Highness. Although not fatal, Gabon was able to cut off Somers' arm and decapitate him. It slowed his regeneration ability, but wasn't enough to put him down for good. Still, we've seen Somers lose twice to Elbaf so far. If any of God's knights are going to die in this arc, there's a good chance it's going to be him.
Scooper Gaban
A legendary pirate on his way?
Speaking of Gaban, Roger the pirate's former navigator has had quite an impact on the Elbaf arc so far. We saw how strong the “Mountain-Eater” is with how well he handled Somers in battle. Even in his old age, Gaban is certainly one of the strongest fighters in Elbaf.
The last we saw of Gabban, he was handling Somers better than anyone else on Elbaf, and it looked like he would have done the same to Gunko if he hadn't used his son Kolkon as a hostage. Gaban left himself exposed to save Colon and was impaled by Gunko's arrow, sending him to Elbaf's underworld. Thankfully, a helicopter saved him from death. Gaban is in a tough spot as long as his wife and son are in danger. The Knights of God now know that he has family ties to Elbaf and once used it against him. It wouldn't be surprising to see them exploit it again, and next time, Gabban might not be so lucky.
Jaguar d. Saul
A tearful reunion can be the prelude to a devastating goodbye
Robin's reunion with Saul was one of the most touching moments of the series so far. As Ohrama is the one who saves her during Buster's call, fans have been waiting for this moment for years. While it was worth the wait, it didn't take long for Somers and the rest of Elbaf's Knights of God to mess it up.
Saul is last seen being badly beaten by Somers and at the mercy of his Iba Iba no Mi. Things don't look good for Saul, knowing the knights of God's immortality are harboring Robin. As Elbaf's position worsens, as Emu falls into Gunko's possession, Saul may have a difficult time. Not only is he a former vice admiral who betrayed the chain of command, but he's also a member of D.'s clan, making him a potential target for Emu. Whether Saul is killed during the conflict or simply Domi reverted, Robin may be the storehouse for further tragedy.
Ropes and brogues
Two mighty giants on an unstoppable rampage
With the attack on Elbaf being as heavy as it has been thus far, many will look to the current co-captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates as the country's first line of defense. While both Dory and Broggy were tasked with protecting their homeland, that all went down the drain when Emu used his Domi Reversi ability to transform them into monstrous versions of themselves along with some of their crew. After aiming to eliminate Jarul and declare themselves the new kings of Elbaf, Dori and Brogi must face off against many of their friends and allies.
So far, we don't know of any way a character affected by Emu's Domi Reversi can break free. A Lord's Valley flashback shows us that Rox and some of his family fell victim to the ability, and it took the combined efforts of Garp and Roger to defeat him. Although this has yet to be confirmed, many speculate that Harald Domi made a reversive return 14 years ago when Loki and Jarul were seen being strangled by their guards in the throne room. As there seems to be no other way to defeat the Domi Reversi'd enemy except to put it down for good, it looks like Dori and Brogie's fate may be sealed.
