Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's head writer says she can't comment on the possibility of a sequel. The turn-based RPG was one of the biggest success stories of 2025, with Sandfall Interactive's first title garnering widespread praise from both players and critics and dominating awards season. Now, as we turn our eyes to the future, some are clamoring for one Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 A sequel, but Sandfall is tight-lipped about when or if fans can expect it.
Demand is certainly not an issue for a potential sequel. Besides being a smash hit among players, Campaign 33 Received 436 Game of the Year awards, breaking Alden RingRecord for most GOTY wins in one game. As might be expected from anything popular, the game was not without controversy, with its use of AI and status as an “indie” title garnering some questionable portrayals, but overall, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 2025 saw a historic run. Whether Sandfall will follow up that success with another game in the same universe, however, is less clear.
When asked Clair Obscur “If I told you, I'd have to kill you,” lead writer Jennifer Swedberg-Yen told GamesRadar+ of what would become a multi-game franchise. Fans have already pointed out that there are many things Clair Obscur: Campaign 33 Sequels could improve or expand, and the game's unique world leaves plenty of room for new stories, but Swedberg-Yen insisted he couldn't comment one way or the other on the idea. While she also says she wants to “tell people” where Sandfall Interactive goes next, the author offers nothing but doubling down on her need for privacy.
Some fans may take Swedberg-Yen's refusal to comment as evidence that there are plans for another game in the series, because there's no need to be embarrassed if a sequel was completely off the schedule. In a 2025 interview, Sandfall CEO and Creative Director Guillaume Broche also said Clair Obscur A franchise name and went far to say Campaign 33 It was just one of the stories the studio wanted to tell in that universe. Those comments seem to contradict Swedberg-Yen's silence, but it could be that Sandfall plans to expand the franchise but is hiding whether that means a direct sequel or spin-off. Any future tense Clair Obscur Games are also a mystery, and plans are liable to change as the years pass.
Whatever the future holds Clair Obscur As good as the game may look, it probably won't be the next thing coming from the studio. Broche has confirmed that Sandfall Interactive has already started work on its next game, but details are slim other than being “very weird and artistic”. Given the size of the sandfall and how recent Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released, the next game is probably early in development and may take some time to come out. Fans should not hold their breath for any major updates for now, which can wait for the next one Clair Obscur Title, sequel or otherwise, all the more painful.

Despite its initial success, Sandfall has expressed that it does not want to capitalize on its rise to fame by scaling. According to Broche, the Campaign 33 The studio's limitations help it become the best version of itself, leading to the kinds of creativity that made its first title such a standout. Only time will tell if that approach pays off again, even if it's a new one Clair Obscur title or something else entirely.
