March 26 is a very busy day for video games

Following in the footsteps of 2025 and 2024, 2026 has already been an impressive year for video games. The industry has dropped a lot of real bangers from long-established indie gems in these first three months. In fact, April and beyond will see the launch of many highly anticipated games, including Grand Theft Auto 6 (Assuming it doesn't stray from its supposed fall 2026 release window). Soon, however, March 26 is largely overbooked, which will play host to many high-profile games, especially on the Nintendo Switch 2. If you're looking to snag some smaller titles before 2026's biggest releases, you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for this March date.

I'm a sucker for a bold twist on a well-established genre, that's why to scream This has been one of my most anticipated games of the year. Coming from Milestone Srl, a developer that has worked on both ground racing games (eg Fat GP) and more foreigners (Open the hot wheels), to scream Blends a dramatic anime-influenced story with compelling arcade racing mechanics. The game's cyberpunk world, offensive racing gameplay, and colorful cast of playable characters make it, if nothing else, a breath of fresh air in the racing space, so I'm excited to see how it turns out.

The Midnight Walk (Switch 2)

The game was actually released last spring, but March 26 marks the day it migrates to the Nintendo Switch 2. With an attractive visual style based on real claymation, Midnight Walk Certainly one of the most aesthetically distinct video games I've seen in a long time—that alone, for some, might make up the cost of admission. If you pass Midnight Walk While it dropped last year, or if you want to experience it on the versatile Switch 2, your chance is coming soon.

Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage (Switch 2)

Virtua Fighter 5 is one of SEGA's more interesting properties. Initially released as an arcade cabinet game in 2006, Virtua Fighter 5 It was ported to PS3 and Xbox 360, and has since received several re-releases and remasters. The most recent version, Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage (Before Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown) launched in 2021, and then in 2025 for current-gen consoles and PC. Now, this presentation is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, much like Ryu Ga Gotoku's other major franchise, Yakuza/Like a dragon.

Although it certainly has its faults, Virtua Fighter 5 is a solid and satisfying 3D fighting game with a small but dedicated community. Its fast-paced encounters and easy-to-learn controls make it a solid fit for the Switch's handheld capabilities, too.

Icarus: Console Edition (PS5, XSX/S)

IcarusA sci-fi survival game from DayZ Creator Dean Hall, making the jump to consoles this month, has already launched on PC in 2021. The game takes place in the distant future, on a planet that has been the subject of a failed terraforming attempt by humanity and is now filled with hostile fauna and environmental hazards. Players control an explorer who ventures into this deadly and untamed land in search of rare and valuable resources. Icarus A definite withdrawal shooter-like edge. With up to 8-player co-op, the game's release on consoles should hopefully, at the very least, lead to a healthier online community.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park (Switch 2)

The full title is a mouthful, but you get the idea: the most recent 2D Super Mario Bros On March 26th the Switch 2 is getting the version, coming with Meet at Bellabell Park expansion. The Switch 2 version of the base game is what you'd expect, offering better visuals and performance, while Meet at Bellabell Park Adds a whole new world, complete with unique activities. For example, the expansion adds Game Room Plaza, which has eight new multiplayer challenges to compete in, and Toad Brigade Training Camp, which adds fresh spins on levels from the base game.

Life is Strange: The Reunion (PC, PS5, XSX/S)

Perhaps the most anticipated game of March 26, Life is Strange: The Reunion For better or worse, it's ready to make a big splash. Through the series' enduring time-travel shenanigans, Chloe Price from the first Life is strange Max is reunited with Caulfield, and the pair must once again prevent a catastrophic event. It's hard to say how this will turn out, because bringing Chloe back into the fray after all this time is certainly a bold choice. Here's hoping Deck Nine manages to stick the landing.
