This whole strategy is about getting the drop on enemies and front-loading whenever possible. One of the best builds for Astarion in BG3 is exactly this combo, as it can be a great idea when Acts 2 and 3 test your skills.
Open Handed Monk (Level 9) + Rogue Rogue (Level 3)
This build seems to quietly break the rules. By stacking the Monk's bonus action economy with the Thief's additional bonus action, you can do more per turn than the game expects you to.

Lore Bard (Level 6) + Oath of Vengeance Paladin (Level 6) = The Bardadin

Hexblade Warlock (level 10) + Warrior (level 2)
Added to Hexblade Warlock BG3Patch 8. It's robust, subtle, and easily one of the best subclasses introduced in the last patch. However, it reaches level 10. Rather than overcommitting, dipping two levels into the fighter gives it exactly what it needs: more action economy.
Why every player should try the Hexblade Warlock + Fighter combo
- Curse of the Hexblade: In just a short rest, you'll gain bonus damage, extended crit range, and heal on kill.
- Charisma Scaling (Hex Warrior): Your weapon attacks and spells pull from the same stat, which keeps everything streamlined and strong.
- Armor of Hexes: At higher levels, you can negate direct attacks from cursed enemies.
- Work growth: The real payoff of this build is what it does to things Baldur's Gate 3Actions of: When a turn is important, just do it again.
In the fighter class BG3 There is a peak at higher levels, so it works better as a dip rather than a multiclass base in any playthrough. The Warlock carries the build while the Fighter boosts it when it matters most. The result is a character that will hit hard, can sustain pressure, and decide combat in double mode.
