The Star Fox revelation was allegedly sudden to mess with the leaker

A reliable insider has claimed that Nintendo's sudden announcement of the long-rumored Star Fox remake was purposely done to “screw” its leakers.

For a while now, it has been rumored that Nintendo was working on some kind of brand new Star Fox game, which was originally leaked by trusted insider NateTheHate, along with a Legend of Zelda remake. Nate claimed that Star Fox would make an announcement at some point in April, but had to go back on that and said he had “missed” the information.

That acknowledgment only happened a few days ago, which made it a very suspicious time when Nintendo dropped a shadow on Star Fox Direct last night to announce a new game (which is actually a remake, it turns out). If it didn't already seem like Nintendo left it that way on purpose, a reliable insider has now suggested that this is indeed the case.

Star Fox made the sudden announcement as a response to its leaks, insiders suggest

That explains the 10 minute warning

On Twitter, Kiwi Talkz (who is known for his interviews with former Nintendo employees and has a clear knowledge of how the studio works) responded to a thread asking about Nintendo's marketing strategy after Star Fox Direct. Kiwi Talkz simply said that Nintendo did this to “screw with the net”, noting that it can sometimes be “too small”.

If more video game remakes are on the horizon, it's time to start remaking bad games

Better games had already taken their toll. Now it's the bad game's turn.

That's all Kiwi Talkz had to say on the matter, but it's a theory that's been floating around since Nintendo announced that the Direct is happening out of nowhere and only has 10 minutes left. Plans change of course, but it's especially notable when Nate apologized to everyone for being “off the mark” with his specific timeline.

Considering how many secret games and projects Nintendo has in the pipeline, and how many of them have been leaked over the past few years (especially by NateTheHate), it's no surprise that it's trying to get its money back, any way it can. Of course, Nate still ended up getting the right information and possibly confirming a Zelda remake in the process, so it looks like the battle has truly just begun.
