The new Naruto TCG is coming in 2027, but we'll be getting more information next month

Seemingly out of the blue, a brand new Naruto trading card game was just announced, with a release date set for 2027, and a future tease coming at the end of July. The biggest and most exciting aspect of the game, however, is that it is supported by Bandai Namco, which no other active Naruto TCG can boast.

With the popularity of games like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon at an all-time high, and brands boasting revenue to match, it's no surprise to see a property as big as Naruto get another shot at a mainstream TCG. However, it is surprising that this announcement comes out of the blue when there is already a Naruto TCG that seems to be working hard to make a name for itself around the world.

New Naruto TCG announced, more details coming next month

The reveal of the new Naruto TCG is surprising for a few reasons, the first being that there is already an active and relatively new Naruto TCG on the market, called Naruto Mythos. Second, this TCG is also produced directly by Bandai Namco, so there is an immediate sense of legitimacy to this game due to Bandai Namco's role in the recent release of Naruto video games.

While details are thin for now, we do know from a short teaser trailer that Naruto TCG is scheduled for release in 2027, and more information about the game is coming on July 29.

It's the day before Gen Con, and if you're attending the event, you'll have a chance to get hands-on with the game's first public outing, as tutorial sessions will be running throughout.

If you attend one of these sessions, you can bag yourself some pretty cool merchandise, including a promotional card, a backpack, and a purchase ticket for a playmat scheduled to be released alongside the game in 2027.

You can register for these sessions on the Zen Con website starting June 21; A limited number of tickets will be available for each day. Future sessions will be at events around the world with exact dates and locations to be confirmed.

What is happening with the Naruto Mythos?

Naruto Mythos Cards.

With the second Naruto Mythos set to be released in the UK and Europe in August, and the third set set to be released in November this year, the Naruto Mythos continues to grow in popularity and demand every month. So, seeing a new Naruto TCG hit the market with the support of a company like Bandai would be quite a shock for Sikaboom.

I can only assume that both TCGs will co-exist for a short period of time, but in the current collectibles market it's hard to see a future where two TCGs based on the same property will be successful.
