of Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisen One of the most iconic pieces of modern shonen. Beginning its serialization in Shuisha's Weekly Shonen Jump issue #14 on March 5, 2018, Jujutsu Kaisen went on to establish a huge legacy for itself, much of which lies in its main characters. Like most shonen series in the modern era, Jujutsu Kaisen has its own three main characters, Yuji Itadori, the protagonist, and two supporting characters in Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro. All these three characters are very popular all over the world.
when Jujutsu Kaisen Ending in Chapter 271 on September 29, 2024, the end for many of these characters was not on the mark. Then Gege Akutami officially set up a sequel Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo68 years after the conclusion of the original story. With the release of Modulo Volume 3 on May 1, 2026, Jujutsu Kaisen explored the official end of all three of its main characters, wrapping up their stories in a satisfying manner and paving the way for a new generation to finally take over.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3 Officially Confirms the End of Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi Fushiguro
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Volume 3 was officially released in Japan on May 1, 2026. This volume is still a year away from being released in the US. Anyway, the contents of JJK Vol. 3 has already been translated, and many exciting details have been revealed to us from it. When Gege Akutami started writing JJK, he already had the idea of killing off three of his characters. By the end of the series, Gozo Satoru had died, while Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara had all survived. However, things changed drastically in 2015 Jujutsu Kaisen: ModuloAnd the trilogy didn't get the happy ending many had hoped for.
“I haven't decided about the final EP… will one of them (Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Gozo) die, or only 1 will live, and the others will die” – Gege Akutami, Jump Festa 2019
When it comes to Yuji Itadori, he seems to have lost his purpose in life. Yuji didn't know what to do with his life after seeing his friends die one after another. After consuming Death Paintings 4-9, Yuji Itadori's aging slowed considerably, and he aged less than everyone else. This is why he isolated himself from society, only to return to help the younger generation at the end of JJK Modulo Volume 3.
“After absorbing the cursed wombs, he became a hybrid between cursed and human, causing his aging to slow down to an extreme” — Geige Akutami explains Yuji's evil body in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume #3 Notes.
Yuji finally finds his true purpose once again in Modulo Volume 3 and decides to help create a new world where cursed energy is kept to a minimum and cursed souls are no longer born in large numbers. To that end, Yuji also enlists the help of Nobara Kugisaki, officially reuniting with him in Modulo's final volume on May 1, 2026. Now it has been officially confirmed that Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki will be working together once again to establish a new generation of wizards.
Yuji's goal is simple: he wants to find all the Heavenly Ban users who will be born after he and Maru work together to remove the cursed energy from the vast majority of the next generation. At the same time, Yuji Itadori is going to mass produce all the powerful cursed equipment in the Gozo Clan's inventory. These Heavenly Ban users will be trained with these cursed tools and given the abilities to deal with the select few cursed spirits born in Tokyo.
When Yuji Itadori dies 300 years later, he hopes that the next generation of magicians will become independent and powerful enough to deal with these magicians. To that end, Yuji and Nobara's endings are tied together, and the two will work together from here on out.
“I'm going to live another 300 or so years. I'll handle whatever happens later. And if necessary, I'll suffer the consequences of this great sin” – Yuji Itadori, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Chapter #22

After 3 years, Jujutsu Kaisen is finally welcoming Gojo Satoru
Gojo Satoru's official return is finally set in a new teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4.
Megumi Fushiguro died at an unknown point after the events of Shinjuku
While Yuji and Nobara's endings are pretty clear, Megumi's ending is rather unsatisfying and disappointing. Megumi Fushiguro does not appear in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Volume #3. The only mention came from Yuji Itadori in chapter 25, which marked the conclusion of the entire volume. In this particular chapter, it was clear that Yuji missed Megumi Fushiguro's presence. In other words, Megumi is already dead. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear at this time, but since so much time has passed since the events of the Shinjuku Showdown, we can only assume it was natural causes.
Nobra: Who knows how to become a cursed object?
Yuji: So I say we all have to find a way together.
Nobara: If only Fushiguro was here at a time like this.
– A conversation between Yuji and Nobara hinting at Megumi Fushiguro's death, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Vol #3
This also explains why Yuji was so distraught and lost his purpose in life. Seeing some of his best friends die in front of him, including Megumi Fushiguro, would be traumatic for him, and he didn't know how to deal with such a loss. Thankfully, Megumi's memory lives on within Yuji Itadori, and his will will live on for many years to come.

Jujutsu Kaisen may explore the future of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki in a new one-shot following the conclusion of the modulo.
While Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo ended the stories of its main trilogy at chapter 25, which was officially released on March 8, 2026, and was finally released as a volume on May 1, 2026, these endings can be further expanded if Gege Akutami wishes. At the end of JJK Modulo's serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, an editor's note officially confirmed that both Geige Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki are keen to continue working as mangakas.
“Please look forward to Gege Akutami and Yuji Iwasaki's next work. Thank you!” — Editor's note at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter #25
Although it was unclear which series they would tackle next, the possibility of them returning to Jujutsu Kaisen again still exists. This is because Yuji Itadori has officially set into motion a plan that will see him raise the next generation of magicians in a world where humans are cooperating with the Rumelians. There is a lot of research going on in alien technology. At the same time, the most interesting plot point was set up at the end JJK Modulo Volume 3, when Yuji Itadori mentions turning himself into a cursed object like Ryomen Tsukuna.
Yuji wants to turn himself into a finger, and in the future, if things ever go wrong, he wants to be consumed by who the next main character could possibly be. Then, just as Tsukuna's rebirth happened at the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji is about to do the same. This brings the entire story full circle and marks the perfect conclusion to Yuji Itadori's life. This is something we absolutely can't wait to see if the author wants to explore it.
All chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo are available to read through Manga Plus and Viz Media.
