Portuguese retailer FNAC has several pre-order listings for Grand Theft Auto 6, and Cheap suggests that it will actually cost $80 instead of $100 like we all assumed.
Earlier this week, Rockstar Games teased all of us die-hard GTA fans by announcing that pre-orders for the game are set to officially begin on June 25, which was accompanied by a cover art reveal and a snippet of the game's main theme. After more than a year of waiting, it looks like we're finally getting that summer marketing we've been promised for so long.
GTA 6 pre-orders going live doesn't seem like a big deal beyond the fact that we'll get a trailer 3 to go along with it, but it does mean that we'll finally be able to know how much the game will cost. While most of us have accepted that it will probably be $100, a Portuguese retailer has several SKUs on its site, including one that suggests it will cost around $80.
FNAC says the cheapest version of GTA 6 will cost $80
There is also a listing for what appears to be a collector's edition
As pointed out by Redditor venom_daemon on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, Portuguese retailer FNAC has recently stocked several SKUs in preparation for GTA 6 pre-orders to go live in a few days. There are five SKUs in total, each priced and seemingly representing a different version of GTA 6.
No SKUs Obviously Called GTA 6 and named “RS” for Rockstar instead. The November release date really gives it away, though.
The cheapest version of GTA 6 on the site is €89.99, which is roughly equivalent to $80. If true, this means that GTA 6 will be priced like most big triple-A releases, rather than topping out at $100 as many of us have speculated for some time. Of course, FNAC can only guess at the placeholder price drop, but with pre-orders on the distant horizon, it's not impossible for them to know the price.
Along with that version of the game, there are also versions costing €99.99, €109.99, and €119.99, which may represent the premium and ultimate versions. It could just be that FNAC is gearing up for GTA 6's range of prices, which is worth keeping in mind before you get too excited about the $80 price point.
The last SKU for GTA 6 that is currently available on the site is listed for €199.99, suggesting that it is for the Collector's Edition of GTA 6. If the price point is correct, the collector's edition of the game is going to be surprisingly cheap at less than $200, which makes me think that it might just be pre-prices for all the listings. We'll know for sure in a few days, but it's interesting to see the first retailer list.
