Until Dawn 2 theory suggests that everyone can be a monster

A great Toll Done 2 fan theory suggests that, like The Quarry, everyone has the potential to turn into monsters as indicated by their designs.

Although it's hard to feel too excited about the future of the PlayStation with all the talk going on right now, there are at least some very good games on the horizon. One of the standouts for me is Till Dawn 2, which was revealed at PlayStation's big summer State of Play not too long ago.

The reveal trailer for Until Dawn 2 gave us very little idea of what it's actually going to be about, it's probably taking place on a haunted island with a bunch of characters who can live, die and screw each other up. That left a lot for theory, and one fan put together an idea that it looked like the case had cracked.

The villain is everything, really

On the Until Dawn subreddit, Redditor lululemon_fan091 shared a post about how they discovered Until Dawn 2's main villain and twist. To begin with, they point to claims by former developers that Quarry's Earth Tool was Dawn 2 at one point, and that the actual version “might be the same”.

This is key because the theory centers around the idea that each member of the cast can potentially transform and become a villain, such as The Quarry with its werewolf forms for each of the main characters. For 2 AM, the theory suggests that each character can be possessed by the island's ghost and transformed into tense situations, which will play out in the Japanese setting of Akishima Island.

The reveal trailer also features a song that repeats “this is how villains are made” over and over, showing all the characters in tense moments.

The PlayStation blog post for 2am puts a lot of emphasis on these scenarios and, while it's key for a game like this, lululemon_fan091 suggests that the island's curse will cause these changes. The real clincher that makes the theory believable is all the animal motifs in every character in the cast.

Sebastian's shirt has a notable tiger motif, Luke's snake wraps around flowers, Josie wears butterfly shorts, Sebastian's partner has gold jewelry, such as the orb-weaver spider seen in the trailer (some believe she may be Montgomery's character). While it may be a coincidence, it seems like something more is happening with each of the characters.

For now, it's just a theory, but it's one that we've seen so far of Dawn 2, especially with Dacre's character seemingly starting to transform at one point in the trailer. If this is true, then Don 2 is really taking some notes from The Quarry, which could be a huge positive.
