Key takeaways
- The Marines stop the pirates from dominating the One Piece world.
- Some marines like Kuzaku and Prince Grouse deserve promotion.
- Characters like Bogard and Rosinante show dedication.
Without the Marines, the pirates would be the dominant force a piece. People who serve the organization go to great lengths to ensure that pirates don't wreak havoc around the world. Obviously, some Marines are more dedicated to the cause and put more effort into their work.
Unfortunately, their actions are not always recognized. Higher-ups can be biased, and can easily overlook a soldier's achievements if they so choose. With that in mind, here are some Marines who should get a promotion for their work.
7 Kuzaku
Current Rank: Rear Admiral
Kuzaku is the granddaughter of Tsuru, a legendary marine. Kuzaku is fearless and is not fazed by challenges. She is confident in her abilities, so she does not hesitate to undertake risky missions.
Kuzaku has a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit called Muchi Muchi no Mi. Shakti is bound to his whip. Once a person is attacked, they will essentially be subservient to Kuzaku, following his every command. This ability is not limited to living beings; Even inanimate objects like buildings can be turned into obedient slaves. Kuzaku was instrumental in the rescue of Kobi in Hachinosu. So she proved that she deserves promotion.
6 Prince Grouse
Current Rank: Rear Admiral
Prince Grouse is part of the new generation of Marines. He is one of the few young Marines who have proven themselves capable of handling difficult situations. Grouse was first introduced in a cover story involving Bege's family. However, his proper debut came in the Egghead arc.
Prince Grouse is a talented fighter, as evidenced by his performance in Hachinosu, where he helps Garp save Kobi. Grouse used his Gunyo Gunyo no Mi to create clay golems to attack and distract the pirates in Hachinosu. While Gruss is extremely talented, he may need to work a little harder to become a vice admiral.
5 Bogard
Current Rank: Unknown
Bogard is Monkey de Garp's right-hand man. He has been part of the organization for decades and there is no doubt that he is loyal to the Marines. Bogard hasn't been involved in many fights, but he has a lot of experience. He knows his limits, and he doesn't charge recklessly.
Bogard's rank is unclear, so it is assumed that he is at least a row. If so, Bogard certainly deserves to be a rear admiral or commodore. With the story moving swiftly to its conclusion, it doesn't take long for fans to learn Bogard's true power and rank.
4 Rosinante
Last Known Rank: Commander
Donquixote Rosinante was the son of Homing. Unlike her brother, Rosinante was kind and caring. He knew that Doflamingo was going down the path of destruction, so he decided to go undercover and stop him. Rosinante joined the Marines and returned to Doflamingo to monitor their activities.
Rosinante was great at his job, and his Devil Fruit was instrumental in helping him fool his brother and the rest of the crew. Rosinante's Nagi Nagi no Mi canceled out the surrounding noise, making it perfect for its moves. Rosinante got all the important details related to Doflamingo, and if it wasn't for Vergo the latter would never have been discovered. At the time of his death, Rosinante was only a commander. A man of his caliber should at least be a captain.
3 X-Drake
Current Rank: Rear Admiral
X-Drake is the captain of SWORD, a top secret organization within the Marines. For years, he hid and made everyone believe he was a supernova, aiming to become a big-time pirate. X-Drake successfully infiltrated the Beast Pirates to learn more about Yonko's plans and inform his fellow SWORD members about them.
X-Drake has Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus. It is an ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into an Allosaurus. This greatly enhances his physical attributes, enabling him to fight stronger enemies without any problems. X-Drake is currently a rear admiral, but a promotion is definitely on the cards.
2 Cabbage
Current Rank: Captain
At the time of his introduction, no one would have predicted that Kobe would become one of the most underrated One Piece characters. He joined the Marines after Luffy rescued him from Alvida's clutches. Afterwards, Garp took Coby under his wing and trained him to become stronger. The training was a resounding success, and Kobe improved physically and mentally.
Kobe was involved in the Rocky Port incident, which earned him the nickname “The Hero”. Kobe was also involved in the great battle at Hachinosu, where he managed to destroy Pizarro's ginormous arm in a single attack. In addition to these achievements, Coby also gained the support of Garp, who called him the future of the Marines. Considering all these things, Kobe deserves to be at least a vice admiral.
1 a smoker
Current Rank: Vice Admiral
The smoker is one of the few recurring characters a piece who are not affiliated with the Straw Hat Pirates. Smoke debuted in the Loguetown arc, where he defeated Luffy and nearly captured him as well. However, the dragon saved his son and foiled the smoker's plans. The smoker didn't give up, and he followed the Straw Hats to the Grand Line.
Despite his lack of screen time, Smokey is still a fan favorite, and they have high hopes for him. One of the main reasons Smoker deserves a promotion is because he's among the elite Marines who care about people's well-being. He is against the manipulation of news, which the current hierarchy in the Marines is very fond of. For now, Smoke will remain a vice admiral, but he will likely lead the Marines.
