Deadpool has been for a long time. He may have started out as a “We're Home Deathstroke” knockoff in 1991, but he's become one of Marvel's most popular heroes. His journey from straight-up villain to edgy anti-hero to fully-fledged hero has been a long one.

The 8 Best Anti-Heroes in Movies, Ranked

Movies aren't always about good guys and bad guys. Anti-heroes fall into the morally gray category, and these are the best of the bunch.

This means that, like every other major Marvel hero, there have been several Deadpool variants that have appeared over the years, accounting for most of them. Deadpool Vs. WolverineThe best Easter egg ever. However, not all variants of Deadpool were created equal. They range from comically inept to hilariously overpowered.

For this list, we've used the “classic” 616 Deadpool as the base and only included the versions from the comics.

8 Eli Wilson

He has the ability to surpass his father

Deadpool's daughter, Ellie Wilson

  • appeared first on Deadpool (Volume 5) #19

Deadpool has had many children over the years (including a symbiote dog-daughter), but his favorite has always been Ellie. Ellie first appeared in 2013 and her relationship with her unpredictable, absent father has often been rocky. They recently repaired the relationship, though, which is a good thing because it looks like Deadpool's days are numbered.

Every Deadpool movie, ranked

Deadpool has been the star of three movies so far, Deadpool and Wolverine being the most recent. How do these three movies compare?

In the current comics run, Eli is set to act as Deadpool. Readers haven't seen much of her in action, but things look promising. Ellie shares her father's healing powers, but hers is superior because it is not hindered by cancer. He also has hypercognition and a photographic memory. Although she is now not as experienced as Wade, these powers make Ellie a quick learner, even capable of copying Taskmaster. If Marvel lets her stick around, she might end up surpassing her father. That being said, Ellie is savvy, so she'll probably never get over her dad's best quote.

7 Deadpool 2099

High-tech gear and a robot dragon

Deadpool 2099

  • appeared first on Deadpool #6

Deadpool 2099, aka Eleanor Camacho, is one of Deadpool's daughters, this time from the future Earth-16356. If this all sounds a little familiar, it's because of the similar setting to the excellent Spider-Man 2099 comics. Deadpool 2099 is Wade's daughter and Queen of the Underworld, Sheeklah. He inherited his slightly monstrous appearance from his mother and his father's healing factor.

However, what sets Deadpool 2099 apart, and puts her above Allie Wilson is the gear she's packing. From the future (sort of), Eleanor comes with a super-advanced suit and weapons that would make Iron Man blush. If that wasn't enough, she turns into a robot dragon and has a small army of Bobs at her command. Like his father, he began as a villain before taking a more heroic turn. While fans haven't seen much of Deadpool 2099, he has plenty of potential.

6 Lady Deadpool

Heroic female counterpart

Lady Deadpool

  • appeared first on Deadpool: The Merc with a Mouth #7 (2010)

If any of the above Deadpools ever crossed their father, the result would likely be Earth-3010's Lady Deadpool. Lady Deadpool comes from a dystopian version of Marvel's Earth where America is torn apart by civil war and is led by an evil version of Captain America, General America.

Lady Deadpool leads the resistance forces and is generally a more heroic version of Deadpool. She shares all of the regular Deadpool's powers but is better with blades and is smarter. In her presence, she proved herself to be a good leader and played an important role in the fight against the evil Deadpool Corps. It all adds up to a Deadpool that's a bit better all around, landing him on the lower end but above his daughters. He recently had great cameos in Deadpool Vs. Wolverine, so it looks like fans will be seeing more of this version of Deadpool in the future.

5 Death mask

A Deadpool / Doctor Doom combo

Marvel has given fans several Deadpool variants that are mashups of Deadpool and existing characters. Most of them, like Wolverinepool and Octosquatchpool, come with great designs but don't last long enough for fans to get a good read of how powerful they are. Death Mask supports this trend.

This version is from Earth-11638 and is a Deadpool that Reed Richards managed to cure for cancer. Unfortunately, the process stripped Wade of his moral compass in the process and made him super-intelligent. Using his intelligence, this Deadpool made himself some Doctor Doom-style armor and created a massive criminal empire. He then killed his universe's Victor Von Doom (who was in the process of becoming regular Deadpool's best friend) and attempted to kill Earth-616 Deadpool. Death Mask has the usual powers of Deadpool but is much smarter. What makes him so dangerous, though, is the deal he made with Mephisto. That's something that could make him a versatile threat when he finally appears.

4 Venomple

Wade with a Symbiote

Deadpool Venompool

  • appeared first on What if Deadpool? #1 (2011)

Venompool is the first entry on this list that can be described as a big step up from the classic Deadpool. He comes from Earth-90211, a world stuck in the 1980s in which Deadpool is hired by Galactus to kill the Benders. Instead, he befriended her and lived a party-boy lifestyle. Things only go wrong when this universe's Deadpool meets and bonds with Spider-Man's symbiote.

The result is a Deadpool that's carrying around twice as crazy and has all the usual symbiote powers. At first, he tries to be a hero, but his insatiable hunger means he has a bad habit of killing villains. Outcast by the other heroes, Venompool decided to make himself important by killing almost every hero and villain in his universe. Venompool was strong enough to go toe-to-toe with one of the most powerful beings in his universe and a great villain Deadpool is the star of the comics, which catapulted him into the ranks.

3 Galactipool

A planet-eating powerhouse

Galactipool before he died

  • appeared first on Deadpool kills Deadpool #2

Galactipool wasn't around for long, so fans don't know much about him. What readers know is that he is easily one of the most powerful versions of Deadpool. The logic is simple: Galactus, who can swallow planets and rewrite reality, is one of Marvel's most powerful villains and Galctipool seems to have all his powers.

Galactipool appeared as a member of the Evil Deadpool Corps and was tasked with wiping out what was left of the good Deadpool Corps by consuming a hidden planet. He was stopped when Ladypool slammed his ship into his head. It showed that even the most powerful versions of Deadpool can be prone to ignominious deaths Deadpool kills Deadpool event

2 Captain Pool/Cosmic-Pool

Welded universe-level strength

Captain Deadpool

  • First appeared in Deadpool Volume 4, #27

There are a handful of ways characters can become super powerful in Marvel Comics. One of the best ways is to interact with the primordial forces that created the universe, which is what Deadpool did in the Deadpool vs. Thanos storyline. In this arc, Lady Death, the love interest of both Deadpool and Thanos, is missing. When the two find her, they discover that she has been captured by Infinity, who is basically the living embodiment of the Marvel Universe. Thanos attempts to kill Infinity to win Lady Death's favor, which will effectively destroy all life, forcing Deadpool to step in.

This allows Deadpool to merge with the Unipower to Infinity, giving him the same abilities as Captain Universe. For those who don't know, Captain Universe is one of Marvel's most powerful heroes. His power catalog is vast but includes tools like object manipulation, reality warping, and basically omnipotence when he needs it. Using these new powers, Deadpool easily defeats Thanos, although the Mad Titan is acting as Lady Death's avatar (enhancing her powers).

There's very little this version of Deadpool isn't capable of. However, Deadpool's time as Captain Pool was limited, as the powers gifted by the UniPower are almost always temporary. Captain Deadpool later appeared as a version Deadpool: The End #1 As a possible future for Deadpool. This version of the character reshapes Marvel's entire existence to make it a happier and more hopeful place.

1 Dreadpool

Wants to destroy everything

Deadpool - Dreadpool and the Evil Deadpool Corp

  • appeared first on Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe #1

Dreadpool is proof that no good deed goes unpunished. His story begins with the X-Men sending Deadpool to a mental institution so he can get the help he needs. Instead, he is brainwashed by Psycho-Man, who wants to turn Deadpool into a ruthless killer by convincing him that his universe is fake and everyone in it must die. This process works very well and turns Deadpool into a humorless nihilist determined to destroy all creation.

It's Dreadpool's sheer willpower, focus, and plot armor that make him so powerful. He was the focus of some of the best Deadpool comics and was responsible for wiping out his entire universe. He then moved into the Ideaverse and began erasing literary legends such as Sherlock Holmes, Moby Dick, and Dracula. After this task was completed, he set his sights on Marvel's Multiverse and assembled the Evil Deadpool Corps that could act as a threat to any Deadpool against him. No other Deadpool variant has been as deadly or accomplished as Dreadpool. He may be the worst version of Wade Wilson, but he's also the most powerful.
