If you've played Dire Marsh (Night), you've probably come across an anomaly sample (if you want to know how to get one, we'll cover that too, so stick around). Anomaly samples are not the type of thing you want to extract, in fact, it's actually the opposite.
Anomaly samples are faction-specific contract items for Traxus and MIDASo if you don't currently have a contract that requires an anomaly sample, then you should remove it; Otherwise, you're carrying useless loot that's preventing you from using your abilities.

Marathon: How to Get and Use UESC CERTs
UESC CERTs are the key to getting some very OP loot on Marathon's Dire Marsh (Night) map, and here's how to use them.
How to get anomaly samples in marathon
You can only get anomaly samples from dangerous drones. These drones will spawn randomly in Dire Marsh (night), and if one enters the map your HUD will update, as it says. “Dangerous drone discovered”. Below the text, you will be given the location of the drone.
Once you see the dangerous drone, which shouldn't be too difficult since it has a glowing white light around it, you can shoot it. After a few bullets, it will teleport away, and you need to find it a second and third time. Shooting a third time, the drone will crash and drop loot.
Dangerous drones can now be looted, and Inside its cargo box, you can find anomaly samples. However, before you pick them up, you should be aware that you will receive the OS: Ability Regen Pause debuff.Which means you can't regenerate or use abilities.
You should only bother with anomaly sampling if you have a contract with Traxus or MIDA. If not, you should ignore them. If you have a deal, keep reading!
