ARC Raiders' new Riven Tides update breaks crossplay

ARC Raiders' The Big Riven Tides update that launched on April 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC appears to have broken the shooter's crossplay feature for most players. After the release of the 1.26.0 update for ARC Raiders This week, players immediately began reporting that the crossplay option was suddenly disabled and unable to be returned. Embark has responded to the issue and confirmed that a fix is in the works.

Since the start of the new year, Embark has been releasing a steady stream of new content updates every month, with Riven Tides being the most recent release. April 28 also marks the end of the patch ARC Raiders' official 2026 roadmap, at least for now. Embark detailed four updates between January and April, but has yet to reveal what its plans are for the rest of the year. However, the good news is that the studio intends to support the shooter for a decade, which means that there will be a new roadmap for the rest of 2026 to be released in the coming weeks.

ARC Raiders accidentally breaks crossplay with the new Riven Tides update

Earlier this week, Embark Studios released the highly anticipated Riven Tides update ARC Raiders. Not only does it add a brand new map and a terrifying new ARC enemy, but it seems to inadvertently break the game's crossplay feature. Shortly after the patch went live, players took to social media sites like Reddit to question why crossplay had been disabled in the game's settings and couldn't be turned back on. This means that players are unable to match or pair up with their friends on other platforms, but Embark says it is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

In an official message ARC Raiders Discord, a community manager, said that Embark is currently investigating an issue with crossplay since April 28 ARC Raiders patch. The studio said it will report back to players once the issue is resolved. At the time of writing, more than 24 hours have passed, and there has been no further update on the matter. However, Embark shared a temporary fix for the problem, telling players that they can restore their settings completely to defaults to enable crossplay again. However, this will in turn reset all other settings, such as control and accessibility options, so anyone who doesn't want to go through the hassle of tweaking all their other settings should wait for an official fix.

Crossplay issues aside, the latest update gave fans plenty of new content to check out, including a brand-new map known as Riven Tides and a new map state, Beachcombing. A new minor map mode allows players to search for buried treasure on the beaches of Riven Tides with a new metal detector item, but players will also want to be on high alert as the new ARC Turbine enemy is another deadly addition to the game.

While previous campaigns saw players collect all of their best items and weapons to ensure they met the stash/coin value requirement for five skill points, Embark now combines the extra points with a new damage challenge. If players want to earn five extra skill points for the next reset, they can now do a total of 100,000 damage until Monday, May 11th. For reference, that's equivalent to destroying about 20 strongholds.
