In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players can obtain dozens of powerful weapons for each of the main characters. These weapons all have their own types of damage, scaling, as well as unique perks granted upon reaching level 4, level 10, and level 20 with each weapon. The game’s unique approach to narrative allows players to access similar weapons via either Gustave or Verso, so both characters essentially share the same arsenal.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33: Best Sciel Weapons, Ranked
Sciel is one of the strongest characters for dealing damage, and these weapons are the best to unleash her full combat potential.
However, Verso offers his own unique gameplay style, somewhat similar to Devil May Cry games. The power of the character’s skills and attacks grows as Verso reaches Perfection Ranks (from D to S) by attacking enemies and avoiding damage. When choosing the best weapon for Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players have to keep in mind this one-of-a-kind dynamic. Reaching higher tiers like A or S drastically increases all of Verso’s damage (up to +200%) while also unlocking additional bonuses for Verso’s skills. These are the best weapons for Verso in Expedition 33.
Updated June 12, 2026, by Vlad Mazanko: With its robust and flexible combat system, rich itemization, and wealth of stats and perks that contribute to success in battle, Clair Obscur is a prime example of an RPG that rewards experimentation, creativity, and skill. Every player can easily find a primary weapon for Verso among the 29 total weapons available that complements their unique playstyle or very specific combat build, unlocking strong synergies with his skills and Perfection mechanics. The list has been updated to highlight the strongest weapons for Verso in Expedition 33, including those added in the Thank You Update.

Seeram
|
Level 4 |
+1 to all Perfection gain, but can’t reach Rank S. |
|
Level 10 |
Base Attack gives 4 Perfection. |
|
Level 20 |
20% increased Light damage with Skills. |
Seeram is a great weapon to boost players’ speed in reaching Perfection Ranks, but it limits their ability to utilize the most powerful Rank S moves. As such, the weapon is easy to recommend for players who struggle to execute parries or avoid damage with Verso. With Seeram equipped, players will reach Rank A much faster, either through skills or the base attack. With these tactics, the Combo Attack Pictos or Luminas are invaluable, as it’s possible to reach Rank A with a single base attack at the beginning of each round.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – 8 Things A Sequel Could Improve
As good as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is, there are plenty of ways that Sandfall Interactive could improve things in a potential sequel.
Level 20 Seeram slightly compensates for its major downside with increased Light damage from Verso’s skills, which helps balance the weapon’s damage output without reaching Rank S. Not to mention, Seeram is easily among the most beautiful weapons in the game.

Sireso
Capable of Turning Verso Into a Support Character
- Scaling: Vitality & Agility
- Element: Physical

Sireso
|
Level 4 |
Bonus damage from Perfection applies to all allies at half value. Bonus damage no longer applies to Verso. |
|
Level 10 |
Perfection gained is increased by 1 while Powerful. |
|
Level 20 |
Support Skills cost 1 less AP. |
Sireso definitely won’t suit every player, given how strong Verso typically is as a damage dealer, but this weapon is very unique, allowing players to try something different. Sireso’s Level 4 perk is literally a game-changer, turning Verso into a support character and granting his bonus Perfection damage to other characters at half value. The weapon’s support potential is further boosted at Level 20, making certain skills more affordable to use.
It’s easy to see how Sireso can be an easy choice for players most interested in creating devastating character builds for Maelle or Sciel, boosting their damage to unhealthy numbers. In this case, Verso equipped with Sireso becomes a buff machine that grants a substantial damage boost, letting players experiment further with one-shot builds and breeze through even the toughest combat encounters in Expedition 33.

Tireso
Mark, Debuff, and Execute
- Scaling: Vitality & Defense

Tireso
|
Level 4 |
Gain 1 Rank by applying Mark. |
|
Level 10 |
Mark an enemy on Base Attack. |
|
Level 20 |
Apply Powerless on Marking an enemy. |
Players will either love or hate Tireso’s weapon design in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. However, despite its unserious appearance, Tireso is a surprisingly powerful weapon choice for Verso, with simple yet effective bonuses and synergies. The weapon unleashes the full potential of Marks. Given that Marking is easily achievable through various methods such as Pictos, players can both strengthen their allies and weaken their foes in combat.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Best Maelle Weapons, Ranked
For those looking to make the most of Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, here are the best weapons available to her.
With Tireso, Verso reaches Ranks faster, debuffs enemies to make them deal less damage to allies (which works especially well against strong bosses), and sets foes up to be finished off by the character whose turn is next. Given how many of Expedition 33‘s characters’ skills and attacks benefit from Marks, playing with Tireso can become a secret ingredient for serious boss encounters.

Gesam
Some Restrictions Can Be Advantages
- Scaling: Vitality & Agility
- Element: Physical
-
Gesam
|
Level 4 |
Convert Light damage Skills to Physical damage. |
|
Level 10 |
20% increased Physical damage with Skills. |
|
Level 20 |
-1 AP cost for Physical Skills. |
While Gesam is a strong choice for Verso, the weapon’s primary Level 4 perk is somewhat situational and can limit players when facing bosses that are resistant to Physical damage. Trading the unique Light damage from Verso’s skills for the more conventional Physical type won’t suit every combat build, yet some players can capitalize on this drastic shift with the right combination of skills and Pictos.
What makes Gesam a powerful weapon is that, along with converting Light damage to Physical, it also increases damage and reduces the AP cost of each converted skill. With such a nice synergy packed into a single weapon, players can overwhelm late-game enemies resistant to Light damage by unleashing high-powered skills more frequently with lower AP demands.

Gaulteram
Ol’ Reliable Weapon with No Min-Maxing
- Scaling: Ability & Luck

Gaulteram
|
Level 4 |
When hit, lose 1 Perfection instead of 1 rank. |
|
Level 10 |
Apply Rush on Rank S. |
|
Level 20 |
Gain 2 Perfection on turn start. |
Gaulteram hardly makes a case for the strongest Verso or Gustave weapon, yet it’s what you might call a reliable workhorse for a large portion of the game, given how early it can be obtained and how useful it can be. Suitable for early- to mid-game, where players are still learning, Gaulteram’s primary perk makes mastering Perfection mechanics as Verso much more forgiving, given that getting hit is almost negligible with Gaulteram when it comes to maintaining higher Ranks or their quick recovery.

A God of War Laufey and Expedition 33 Crossover is Destined to Happen
With Deborah Ann Woll’s Faye now leading her own God of War game, it seems like a guarantee that there will be some kind of nod to her famous co-star.
Even in late game, when some weapons outperform Gaulteram with specific combat builds, some players might prefer sticking with Gaulteram when encountering new enemies in Clair Obscur — just to stay at Rank S most of the time without worrying too much about taking damage from them. Oh, it also looks really cool, boasting a great overall design.

Abysseram
For Those Who Aren’t Dante
- Scaling: Vitality & Defense

Abysseram
|
Level 4 |
50% increased damage on Rank D. No damage increase on other ranks. |
|
Level 10 |
50% increased Base Attack damage. |
|
Level 20 |
On Rank D, recover 20% Health with Base Attack. |
Abysseram is like the opposite of Chevalam — an OP tool for players who struggle with the game or simply want to try something entirely new with Verso. Equipping Abysseram restricts Verso’s combat mechanics quite substantially, but players don’t need to worry about gaining ranks higher than D or avoiding damage while building their character around this weapon.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33: All Monoco Weapons, Ranked
Monoco stands as the most unique playable character, and his weapons are equally amazing, capable of greatly boosting the strength of his skills.
Instead, they receive a flat 50% increase to all damage, an additional 50% increase to base attack damage, and 20% lifeleech if they stay at Rank D, which also means taking hits to remain there. It creates a twisted wheel of life, where Verso is caught in a perpetual cycle of being damaged and healing to sustain both the lower rank and the damage bonus. For some players, it’s absolutely worth it.

Dreameso
A Mark of a True Professional
- Scaling: Agility & Luck
- Element: Physical

Dreameso
|
Level 4 |
Gain 1 Rank on Counterattack. |
|
Level 10 |
50% increased Counterattack damage. |
|
Level 20 |
Gain 2 AP on Counterattack. |
If Counterattacks are really your thing in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, then Dreameso can be a natural fit — especially during the game’s Act 3, when players have already lifted the damage cap to capitalize on this weapon’s potential. Naturally, it works best in the hands of seasoned players who know their enemies perfectly, given how tricky it can be to steadily use Counters against enemies with long combo-attack chains that require parrying every incoming attack.
Once parries are mastered, though, Dreameso truly shines, granting extra Rank to Verso with each successful Counterattack while notably boosting Counter damage and granting him additional AP. Even if an enemy is strong enough to survive an enhanced Counter (with bonuses from pictos it could be impossible), it will probably be demolished soon after, during Verso’s next turn. On top of that, Dreameso looks really appealing with its exotic design, making players strong and stylish at the same time.

Delaram
Easy and Strong Start With Minor Drawback
- Scaling: Vitality & Luck
- Element: Light

Delaram
|
Level 4 |
Start battle on Rank B, but 50% Health. |
|
Level 10 |
Recover 15% Health on Base Attack. |
|
Level 20 |
Apply Powerful on Rank B. |
Delaram can make playing as Verso much easier, essentially skipping C and D ranks, increasing his damage output, granting him a Powerful buff (additional damage boost), and unlocking extra effects on his skills from the get-go. As a drawback, players start with half HP for Verso, which isn’t too big a deal if players are good at the game or have a powerful supporter or healer in their party.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Does Two Things I Hate, And It’s Still My Game of the Year
Clair Obscur: Expedition has two of my big pet peeves in an RPG and yet it’s still the best game I played in 2025.
To further amplify Delaram’s potential, using Base Attack with this weapon heals for 15% health. Couple this with Combo Attack pictos that add extra strikes to Base Attack, and players can easily recover all their lost HP with a single Base Attack while also keeping to climb Perfection ranks for better results. It’s best to use the First Strike picto, though, to ensure Verso always gets the first turn in a fight to possibly eliminate one enemy while recovering his own health.

Confuso
Burn ‘Em Hard
- Scaling: Agility & Luck
- Element: Light
-
Confuso
|
Level 4 |
Light damage can Burn on Critical hits. |
|
Level 10 |
Apply 3 Burn instead of Mark. |
|
Level 20 |
Increase Burn damage by 50% per Rank, up to 300% on Rank S. |
Confuso stands among the stronger options for Verso’s primary weapon, especially if players invest in Luck and Critical Hit Chance from Pictos or Luminas equipped, aiming to reach close to 100% Critical Hit value in the mid-game. With that setup, almost every Verso skill that deals Light damage, as well as the base attack, will apply Burn to enemies. Coupled with the character’s numerous multi-hit skills, this can be very effective.
Confuso goes further by also allowing players to apply 3 Burn instead of Mark, and increasing Burn damage by up to 300% on Level 20 at Rank S. Not only does this make Burn a secret technique in Verso’s arsenal, but using Confuso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is also recommended alongside Maelle in combat. This boosts her Fire skills, which can greatly benefit from Burn stacked on enemies.

Blodam
Unleash Verso’s Hidden Nature as a Berserk
- Scaling: Defense & Agility
- Element: Light

Blodam
|
Level 4 |
Perfection is now based on current Health. Gain 1 Rank every 20% missing Health. |
|
Level 10 |
20% increased Light damage with Skills. |
|
Level 20 |
+1 AP on Rank Up. |
Blodam is Verso’s weapon that can truly shine in the right hands, standing as one of the character’s strongest weapons in Expedition 33 in terms of raw damage output. Given Blodam’s unique perk, it requires Verso to be in battle with no more than 20% HP to instantly reach rank S and gain extra AP, which can be achieved through various pictos or even skills.
It’s a risky strategy, but undeniably a rewarding one, provided you can keep Verso alive with all that missing Health and avoid further damage, since you can’t really rely on healing with Blodam. There are also some pretty strong synergies with glass cannon pictos in the game that require you to have even less Health (10%) to activate, like At Death’s Door, which pairs well with this weapon. The final cherry on top is the increased Light damage with Skills and attacks, since Blodam is a Light weapon, which isn’t game-changing, but good to have nevertheless.
