As an avid Christopher Nolan fan and committed moviegoer, this has, naturally, been one of my most anticipated films since it was first revealed. the odyssey. Honestly, this is a best-case scenario for someone like me, not just Christopher Nolan and the movies. the odyssey himself It has always been one of the most fascinating stories in my mind, ever since I first saw it wishbone Cut it back to childhood, so I don't think I need to explain further how excited I am to see this movie due to the fact that a man I consider one of the greatest film directors to have ever lived created his own adaptation. However, with Assassin's Creed Black Flag resynced Now taking up the bulk of my gaming time, I've been thinking more about an entry that I and many others consider the best of the series' RPG era.
That game is, as you might expect, Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Nolan's film and Ubisoft's RPG may take place in different eras and tell very different stories, but both draw from the same well of Greek mythology, Mediterranean adventure, and larger-than-life heroism. Sail among sun-drenched islands to encounter mythical creatures and explore places bound to the gods, Assassin's Creed Odyssey Homer's epic offers one of gaming's richest ways to immerse yourself in the surrounding world. with the odyssey Bringing that world back to the big screen, there's never been a better time to begin Cassandra's (not Alexios') journey for the first time, or even return to ancient Greece.
There's never been a better time to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey, thanks to Christopher Nolan
Before I go any further, let me confirm my claim the odyssey Which is the best Assassin's Creed RPGs. firstly, origin, the odysseyand Valhalla Commonly known as the original Assassin's Creed RPG Trilogy, while the shadow is the newest addition to the bunch. Of each of those entries, the odyssey Actually has the highest average metascore among the platforms. While I understand that Metacritic alone cannot decide Assassin's Creed The game is best, when you step back and look at all these RPGs together, the odyssey Really does a lot of things well that its siblings just don't.

For me, a big part of what makes the odyssey the strongest Assassin's Creed RPG is its version of ancient Greece. Even after spending hundreds of hours exploring vast open worlds over the years, there's still something special about sailing across the Aegean to Adrestia, finding an island in the distance, and being able to step ashore whenever I want. origin Egypt is Valhalla England is, and the shadow Japan has, but none of them give me the same sense of adventure the odyssey does
Of course, Greek mythology plays a big part in that as well, especially once Cassandra's journey begins to cross paths with the Minotaur, Medusa, the Sphinx, and other creatures pulled straight from ancient mythology. the odyssey Obviously not a retelling of Homer's story, and it takes place centuries before the events. the odysseyBut it still gives you a chance to explore the same culture, the sea, the islands, and the mythology surrounding it. The Fate of Atlantis expansion takes it even further by sending Cassandra to places like Elysium, the Underworld, and Atlantis.

Now, I keep mentioning Cassandra and not because of Alexios, which I don't need to mention to those who have played the game. To me and many others, Cassandra offers the best Assassin's Creed Odyssey experience, only because of Mélisante Mahut, the actress responsible for bringing him to life. It's, quite honestly, one of the better performances I've seen and heard in any video game, for one thing, but when you stand her next to Alexios, the differences are staggering.
No offense to Michael Antonakos, who plays Alexius Assassin's Creed OdysseyBut it is very difficult to hear any words that come out of his character's mouth. For the most part, he's pretty one-dimensional – this big brute of a man with a tough guy personality is a bit too well pressed. He seems ruthless and bland, while Cassandra emerges as the emotionally layered protagonist of the two, and therefore most players prefer at the helm.
But at this point, I would argue, because Assassin's Creed Odyssey Not just great because Kassandra is. Besides everything I've already mentioned, it has the best naval exploration of the RPG era, one of its best progression systems, and an open world that rewards constant curiosity without making each turn feel like another item on a checklist. Even its dialogue choices and branching outcomes, while far from perfect, offer Kassandra's story a more personal quality. origin, Valhallaand the shadow Never duplicate completely. Add the Cult of Cosmos, mercenary system, and some memorable side quests to the series, and the odyssey Ancient Greece is more than just an excuse to spend time.
Christopher Nolan's Odyssey is the perfect excuse to return to ancient Greece
All of this is precisely why Christopher Nolan belongs the odyssey Got me thinking about another playthrough Assassin's Creed OdysseyEven knowing exactly how much of my time it will consume. Seeing Nolan bring Homer's seas, islands, monsters, and larger-than-life characters to the big screen will inevitably make me want to spend more time in that world, and Ubisoft's RPG is still the closest of any game I've ever been allowed to live inside. The stories may be separated by centuries, but traveling across the Aegean as Cassandra provides the same sense of danger, discovery and adventure that has kept Homer's epics alive for thousands of years.
the odyssey Obviously not a retelling of Homer's story, and it takes place centuries before the events. the odysseyBut it still gives you a chance to explore the same culture, the sea, the islands, and the mythology surrounding it.
For someone who has never played Assassin's Creed OdysseyNolan's film finally provides the perfect reason to dive in, especially since the movie brings Greek mythology into the spotlight. Those who have already finished the game may feel as drawn out as I did the odyssey Ancient Greece, naval exploration, and mythical creatures can make it hard to resist again. I may be busy traveling with Edward Kenway now, but once Christopher Nolan's the odyssey Arriving, I have a feeling Adrestia is calling my name.
