As a recent returnee Fallout 76 After six years away, I can confidently say that I'm having a great time with the multiplayer title. Sure, the PlayStation version has annoying issues like frequent crashes, and general Bethesda RPG jankiness, but they're not enough to take away from the fun of the game. I've been exploring the world while rocking out on Appalachia Radio, I've had some great interactions with the community, and I'm thinking about how I can build the CAMP of my dreams with every piece I collect. With such positivity Fallout 76 Experience, I wanted to spend a little money in the atomic shop to show some support for the game, but unfortunately, one of my purchases – a space suit costume – seems like a big mistake. Sadly, I'm not alone in this sentiment, as other players have fallen victim to this incomplete package.
What's wrong with Fallout 76's atomic shop space suit?
Big problem with Fallout 76's space suit is simple: it's missing the helmet, the best part of the piece. When I bought this pack, I thought I wasn't just getting an orange, patch-covered bodysuit. However, when I got to the armor workbench, I was confused to discover that I only had plans for the suit. No matter how hard I looked at my headwear and helmet schematics, the other part of the costume I expected to access was nowhere to be found. This confused me until I searched online and found several Reddit threads where people talked about having the exact same issue. For whatever reason, it's another one Fallout 76 If anyone slips up due to the Atomic Shop bug (Old Glory Fireplace also has issues) or an item adder, note that no helmets are included in the 400-Atomic pack.
Considering how I bought the 700-Atomic Space Explorer Backpack for the full astronaut vibe, I'm out a total of 1100 Atoms for the outfit sold. I don't mind using it until I see a helmet in the store or find one in the game world.
If this was a case of me and other Vault dwellers not reading the contents of the Atomic Shop package, I wouldn't be so upset. However, with this particular bundle, there is no mention that a helmet is not included. The description simply says “Shoot for the stars and survive”, while every single image – including a thumbnail of a space suit – features a character equipped with a space suit and helmet. With two large pictures and a small thumbnail suggesting that I would get a helmet when I bought a space suit, I couldn't help but feel cheated after purchasing it. Despite all the crashes, merchandising glitches, and times my character was stuck in the environment, this confusing cosmetic pack is the first time I've been truly disappointed when I came back. Fallout 76.
Already bought Fallout 76's space suit? You have two options
Although this article hopes to reach players before purchasing a space suit, for those who have already made the mistake of purchasing this item, there are some options available. The first is to contact Bethesda support for a refund, which is quite simple and usually sees players getting their Atoms back very quickly. For players who don't want to give up on this outfit, though, there's another option available: find a space suit helmet in the open world. Sure, it looks a little different and doesn't exactly match what the Atomic Shop promises (the premium version has a bigger visor), but it's a way to save the outfit if players don't mind a refund.

Next to the terminal at Berkeley Springs Pharmacy.
What's particularly frustrating about this whole atomic shop fiasco is that when the space suit first appeared in the atomic shop half a decade ago, it appears to have come with a helmet. This may add weight to the theory that the item is a bug, so will probably be fixed soon. At the same time, the old bundle price was 800, suggesting that the space suit is truly its own and the illusion comes purely from the images used. If this is the case, then the space suit helmet will be coming to the store soon as a separate purchase.
Anyway, it's very disappointing that I can't match my fiancee and her Nuka Cola Girl space suit (yes, it really has a helmet). Next time I play, I'll have to take a break from clearing the Ash Heap to go find one of the helmets in the above locations, though I don't think I'll be able to see that it's not a perfect match for my outfit. Going forward, I'll definitely be a little more cautious about buying from the Atomic shop, only buying bundles where all the ingredients are detailed, and I'm completely confident I'll get exactly what's advertised.
